Background / History

Yan Luo is one of only three known versions of “Lin” to have successfully undergone Hypervariable Surgery. Doctor Mobius performed her operation, and Yan Luo later spent fifty thousand years searching the Quantum Sea alongside Zero. 297 736

Her civilization was destroyed by the Honkai. After witnessing countless parallel versions of Lin—most of whom she describes as emotionless command-following machines—she began hunting them in an attempt to prevent further catastrophes. She frames her purpose as saving “many, many people,” regardless of whether they are important to history. 292 295 307 752

Yan Luo adopted the title Abaddon Yama Demon and dismisses labels such as executioner, monster, and murderer as meaningless symbols. Her long campaign against alternate Lins was ultimately rooted in her belief that extreme action might alter a predetermined future. 295 752

Despite this, she is not indifferent. She rejects the idea that an imperfect outcome must be accepted and insists on fighting for both sides of an impossible choice rather than sacrificing one for the other. 319

Her hostility toward Lin is intertwined with fascination, resentment, guilt, and hope. She refuses to reduce their bond to a simple label, considering such definitions fragile and inadequate. 752

Hunt for Lin

Yan Luo first confronts Lin as an overwhelmingly dangerous pursuer who knows about his Hypervariable Surgery and uncontrolled consciousness transfers into parallel worlds. She intends to kill him, claiming that doing so is necessary to save others. 292

World Bubble and the Monkey Paw

Yan Luo and Lin are trapped in a world bubble in weakened, childlike bodies and form a temporary truce to escape. As the bubble cycles through altered versions of the past, Yan Luo's Herrscher Authority slowly returns. 294 302

After the monkey paw grants wishes, Yan Luo creates a world where her lost companions can live ordinary lives without Honkai or Lin. She divides herself, leaving a Herrscher manifestation to erase Lin from that false world while another self remains with the people she wished to save. 303 318 320

Lin defeats the Herrscher manifestation but recognizes that Yan Luo had been waiting for someone to save her. She allows him the nominal victory, then brutally retaliates before departing. 321

Conflict in the Quantum Sea

Yan Luo later battles Lin with the Black Abyss White Flower, Oath of Judas, recreated Divine Keys, and Uranus. Though she initially seeks to destroy him, she ultimately pushes him into a spatial crack and falls with Uranus to save him. 431 433

Yan Luo reappears in the crevice between the Imaginary Tree and the eigenworld after resonance involving Thousand Worlds Assumption. Despite immediately clashing with Lin, she cooperates with him, Kiana, Rita, and Night Owl to locate the imaginary singularity and prevent Imaginary Tree entities from entering Lin's world. 643 650 653

Opposition to Zero

Yan Luo reveals that only herself, Lin, and Zero successfully completed Hypervariable Surgery. After learning that Zero intends to gather and merge Lin consciousnesses to manipulate the Imaginary Tree, she shifts from reluctant cooperation to open opposition. 736 737

She supports Lin's resistance against Zero, provides him the Black Abyss White Flower during their decisive confrontation, and continues to act against Zero's plan. 757 758
