Background / History
Qian Daoliu is Qian Xunji's father and the leader of Martial Soul Hall's Worship Hall. Though over a hundred years old, he appears middle-aged due to his formidable soul power. The Worship Hall's elders regard him as their senior, and admission to their ranks requires at least level 95 soul power. 4
When Qian Xunji reported the awakenings of Bibi Dong and Su Mo, Qian Daoliu recognized Su Mo's Innate Level 20 Soul Power and Asura Sword as signs of a likely god-level Martial Soul. He ordered Qian Xunji to verify Whale Rubber's cultivation effects and resolved to personally train Su Mo in swordsmanship after the boy obtained his first soul ring. 5
After Su Mo's return, Qian Daoliu accepted him as a student in all but name, allowing him to address him as “Grandfather Qian.” He taught Su Mo the three realms of the sword path—Sword Intent, Sword Domain, and Man-Sword Unity—while stressing that swordsmanship must be built on fundamentals and that power must remain under its wielder's control. 11
As Martial Soul Hall grew stronger, Qian Daoliu supported the distribution of immortal herbs among its senior members and considered the Bright Sacred Heart Grass a potential means for Qian Xunji's descendants to inherit the Angel God's position. 32
He later sparred with Tang Chen away from Martial Soul City. Both were Limit Douluo, though Qian Daoliu possessed a superior soul-ring configuration through having completed the Angel Eight Trials. 58
When Tang Chen came seeking answers over Tang Hao's death, Qian Daoliu remained calm, acknowledged that Su Mo had entered Slaughter City, and refused to yield to Tang Chen's threats against Martial Soul Hall. 154
Qian Daoliu witnessed Qian Renxue's awakening of a mutated Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul and supported her use of the Bright Sacred Heart Grass. Her martial soul subsequently evolved into an Eight-Winged Seraph, strengthening his hope that she could inherit the Angel God's position and lead Martial Soul Hall. 194 195 After Qian Renxue received the Angel Nine Trials, he asked Su Mo to protect her following his eventual sacrifice for the Angel God's final inheritance. 270
Appearance
Despite being over a century old, Qian Daoliu retains the appearance of a middle-aged man. He carries himself with the solemn bearing expected of Martial Soul Hall's foremost worship elder. 4 11

- Upright posture, described as straight as a pine. 11
- Commonly stands with his hands behind his back. 11

Personality
Qian Daoliu is composed, deliberate, and difficult to intimidate. He remained outwardly calm when Tang Chen questioned him over Tang Hao's death, even as the confrontation carried the threat of conflict between two peerless Douluo. 154
He is deeply invested in Martial Soul Hall's future. His immediate interest in Su Mo and Bibi Dong stemmed from their potential to strengthen the organization, but his actions also show personal care: he arranged powerful protection for the children, personally trained Su Mo, and sought to secure Qian Renxue's future as Angel God's successor. 5 6 195 270
As a teacher, he is patient and exacting. He emphasizes foundations over flashy techniques, corrects minute errors in Su Mo's stance and exertion of force, and teaches that killing power must be guided by purpose rather than allowed to corrupt its wielder. 11
“Power itself has no good or evil; the key lies in the person who wields it.”
— Qian Daoliu to Su Mo 11
