Background

Ye Mu resides in Heaven Dou City and regularly stays at the Moonlight Pavilion, where Tang Yuehua retains his patronage through its food and chefs. His primary interest is fine cuisine; he is notably indifferent to political power, factional disputes, and the Sky Screen’s rewards. 1 31 33

He arrived in Heaven Dou City several years before the Sky Screen’s descent, saved Xue Ke by chance, and became the “Teacher Ye” she relies upon. He has remained at Moonlight Pavilion for five years, while even the Heaven Dou Imperial Family’s investigations have failed to uncover his origins. 1

He became Xue Ke’s teacher and protector. Although he initially avoids involvement in the Heaven Dou Empire’s affairs, he agrees to treat Emperor Xue Ye after Xue Ke asks him for help. He cures the emperor’s poison with a gesture and attends the imperial banquet chiefly for its food. 1 35 36

Ye Mu possesses comprehensive knowledge of the continent’s history, including the origin of Martial Soul Hall. Qian Mu, ancestor of the Qian Family, was one of his registered disciples; through this connection, Ye Mu is regarded as the Qian Family’s grandmaster and is described as having ties to Martial Soul Hall’s founding. 29 52 86 121

The Sky Screen publicly identifies Ye Mu as the world’s strongest individual. This exposure draws powerful factions, emperors, sects, and soul beasts to Heaven Dou City, though Ye Mu generally refuses audiences unless he personally wishes to meet someone. 48 78 130 186

Following the opening of a space-time channel, Ye Mu receives people from an era ten thousand years in the future. He explains that his existence has made the current era independent from the future they know, and that he exists only in the present rather than in either the past or future. 213 243

Ye Mu understands that the Sky Screen and its rewards consume the World Will’s source power. He identifies the World Ancient Tree, which he cultivated and endowed with the Undying Bloodline, as the energy source enabling the World Will to sustain this expenditure. 219

Personality

Ye Mu is calm, detached, and difficult to provoke. He disregards conventional hierarchy and political expectations, acting according to his own preferences rather than titles or status. Even emperors and gods cannot compel an audience with him. 186 187

He strongly values peace and personal comfort. He does not seek to rule the continent, but he opposes wars and disturbances that would disrupt his life in Heaven Dou City. This stance contributes to Martial Soul Hall withdrawing from its planned attack on the Heaven Dou Empire. 31 57 86

Despite his indifference, Ye Mu is protective of those he accepts. He treats Xue Ke’s father, shelters disciples and acknowledged guests, and punishes people who attempt manipulation or harm those under his protection. 35 173 187

Ye Mu judges people primarily by their character, conduct, and whether they disrupt his peace rather than by their cultivation or status. He approves of Huo Yuhao’s consideration for civilian lives and rewards those whose actions satisfy his standards, while refusing to indulge the Star Luo Imperial Family’s greed. 288 311 321 322

  • Fine food is his most consistent interest; exceptional cooking can persuade him more readily than political appeals. 1 35
  • He dislikes unwanted publicity and has repeatedly considered destroying the Sky Screen for exposing his creations and location. 42 106 107
  • He is demanding toward disciples, judging even divine cultivation as inadequate when it falls below his standards. 72
  • He does not value empty formalities, but expects sincerity, humility, and proper conduct from those seeking his favor. 181 248 322
  • He views divine positions and other rewards as his personal possessions, which he may grant or withhold entirely at his discretion. 321 322

Ye Mu’s standards for ultimate ice transcend ordinary elemental control.

  • Teaches that ultimate ice should be able to freeze spirit, space, and time. 72

Story Role / Major Arcs

Moonlight Pavilion and Sky Screen Arrival

Ye Mu is introduced as a mysterious, wealthy undead residing in Heaven Dou City. His quiet routine of dining at Moonlight Pavilion is interrupted when the Sky Screen descends and begins continent-wide questions and rewards. 1

Protection of Xue Ke and Heaven Dou

After demonstrating his strength against hostile soul masters, Ye Mu protects Xue Ke and cures Emperor Xue Ye. His presence becomes a decisive deterrent against Martial Soul Hall attacking the Heaven Dou Empire. 33 35 36 57 86

Exposure as the World’s Strongest

The Sky Screen identifies Ye Mu as the strongest person in the world, exposing his residence in Heaven Dou City. The revelation attracts disciples, soul beasts, sects, royal representatives, and opportunists to the Moonlight Pavilion. 48 66 78

Patron of Gods and Factions

Ye Mu aids selected people according to his own judgment: he grants godhood, bloodlines, martial soul evolutions, and divine inheritances, while rejecting arrogant petitioners and those who disturb his peace. 86 130 156 180 186

He later extends the Undying Bloodline to prominent allies and elevates Ning Fengzhi to godhood, strengthening the group centered on Moonlight Pavilion without becoming a formal ruler himself. 212

Creator Revealed by the Sky Screen

Later Sky Screen revelations expose Ye Mu as the creator of divine artifacts, External Soul Bones, martial souls, and impossibly advanced Soul Tools. His interstellar warship demonstrates creation abilities beyond established Soul Tool classifications. 99 107 108 221 240

The Sky Screen subsequently confirms that several ancient, god-producing Martial Souls—including the Heaven Shaker Hammer, Blood Calamity Mad Thunder, and Heaven-Shattering Earth-Splitting Purple Gold Hammer—were also created by Ye Mu. 270

Peerless Era Arrival and God King Bestowal

When a space-time channel brings people from the era ten thousand years in the future into the present, Ye Mu clarifies that this era has diverged from their historical timeline. He judges the newcomers by their conduct, permits worthy individuals to remain, and raises the Elegant Chamber’s members to the God King realm to prepare for threats from the Peerless God Realm. 243 277 282 283

Judgment of the Star Luo Empire

Ye Mu offers the Star Luo Empire an opportunity to obtain a godhood, but rescinds it when its representatives demand additional divine positions. He makes clear that his rewards are not obligations and that those who act with greed or entitlement have no claim on his favor. 321 322
