Power Progression
The martial world has no universal, fixed realm ladder; a fighter's strength depends on their particular inner arts, techniques, intent, and cultivation. Gu Mo's progression is therefore documented through major attainments rather than a single rank system. 1
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Third-rate inner-force foundation | 1 | Before receiving the system reward, his inner force was comparatively limited, though his explosive power and refined saber work let him briefly contend with first-rate masters. 1 |
| Max-level Nine Yang Divine Skill | 1 | Claimed after killing the three-star wanted criminal Zhou Tong; gained inexhaustible Yang inner force, protective true qi, healing, detoxification, heightened perception, and extraordinary comprehension. 1 |
| Limitless Return to Origin Qi | 101 | Formed by integrating multiple perfected inner arts into a single return-to-origin system, allowing Gu Mo to fuse their power into an ultimate attack. 101 |
| Little Phaseless Skill acquired | 109 | Completed the “converter” role in his Return to Origin system, helping reconcile conflicting internal energies. 109 |
| Max-level Heavenly Silkworm Divine Skill | 129 | Received after capturing Shangguan Shang; reached the Ethereal Realm, enabling heavenly silk attacks from any part of his body and providing exceptional regenerative potential. 129 |
| Max-level Four Illuminations Divine Skill | 131 | Obtained after killing Ye Xiao; grants exceptionally meticulous and efficient control of true qi. 131 |
| Max-level Six Meridian Divine Sword | 247 | Received for killing four-star wanted criminal Dou Ruohua. 247 |
| Great Accomplishment Bright Jade Skill | 261 | Claimed after killing Zuo Yue; its extreme Yin true qi coexists with Nine Yang inner force in Yin-Yang Harmony. 261 |
Background
Gu Mo was born to ordinary Jianghu parents in Yun Province. When he was ten, enemies forced his parents back into the martial world to keep Gu Mo and Gu Chundong from being exposed. Both parents later died amid a conflict between the Golden Saber Sect and Black Mountain Gang. 58 74
He and Gu Chundong grew up traveling the Jianghu and worked as escorts. After losing his sight, Gu Mo continued to rely on his experience, hearing, smell, and coordination with his sister. In a ruined temple, he killed the flower-picking thief Zhou Tong with a single saber strike and awakened the Blade Catcher System, which rewards the capture or death of wanted criminals. Zhou Tong's bounty granted him the max-level Nine Yang Divine Skill. 1
Gu Mo settled briefly in Linjiang City, chose to become a Blade Catcher, and entered a working relationship with Yan San Niang's newly established Wind Chasing Tower. Her intelligence network became a major source of wanted-criminal leads. 2 3
His early career brought escalating fame through the deaths or captures of criminals such as Flying Dragon, Shangguan Shang, Ye Xiao, and Dou Ruohua. His growing reputation eventually made public life in Linjiang difficult, as visitors, challengers, and prospective disciples constantly sought him out. 129 131 224 247
Qi Miaoxuan later treated Gu Mo's eyes at Spring God Valley. Gu Mo eventually removed his blindfold during the battle on Bright Moon Mountain, publicly revealing that he could see again. 85 172
Appearance
Gu Mo was formerly recognized by his blindfold and vacant eyes. After his inner cultivation and eye treatment advanced, his appearance changed noticeably: his skin became jade-like, his old saber calluses disappeared, and his presence felt distant and difficult to approach. 256
- Formerly blind; relied on perception refined through profound inner force. 1
- Commonly wore a black blindfold before recovering his sight. 85 111
- Possesses unusually refined, pale skin as a result of his cultivation. 256
- Often carries weapons or supplies while traveling with Gu Chundong, who uses a large book box. 236
Personality
Gu Mo is calm, practical, and notably unenthusiastic about power struggles, official positions, or building a martial-world faction. He prefers hunting wanted criminals, improving his cultivation, and leaving political maneuvering to others. 124 138 189
Despite his fearsome reputation, he usually treats people with basic respect regardless of their social status. He accepts sincere apologies without excessive hostility and compensates for damage caused during conflicts. 236
He is deeply protective of Gu Chundong and supports her right to choose her own path. While he may tease her, he consistently teaches, protects, and encourages her. 130 256
Gu Mo can also be ruthless toward criminals and those who threaten his allies. He cripples or kills opponents decisively when he judges it necessary, particularly when confronting wanted criminals or people attempting to exploit others. 129 195
Abilities & Skills
Blade Catcher System
Gu Mo's system identifies wanted targets, assigns star-rated missions, and grants rewards for their capture or death.
- Rewards include martial arts, divine weapons, medicinal treasures, and other rare resources. 1
- Mission ratings reflect the scale and severity of a target's crimes more heavily than raw combat strength. 46 84
- The system enabled his rapid acquisition of perfected martial arts that would normally require years of cultivation. 1 261
Nine Yang Divine Skill
Gu Mo's foundational inner art and the source of his early transformation after killing Zhou Tong.
- Produces self-sustaining, nearly inexhaustible Yang inner force. 1
- Automatically generates protective true qi and Vajra Indestructible defense. 1
- Strengthens tendons, cleanses marrow, heals injuries, and provides strong resistance to poison. 1 321
- Dramatically improves sensory perception, allowing him to perceive nearby people, distant movements, and even colors at high cultivation. 1 111
- Enhances comprehension, allowing him to rapidly elevate martial techniques. 1
Limitless Return to Origin Qi
A composite internal-energy system designed by Gu Mo to integrate his many perfected inner arts.
- Uses Taiji Divine Skill as harmonizer, Little Phaseless Skill as converter, Four Illuminations Divine Skill as stabilizer, Heavenly Silkworm Divine Skill as protector, Nine Yang and Bright Jade as power sources, and Grand Mystery Scripture as a dimensional enhancer. 109 134
- Allows disparate true qis to return to one unified source without preventing their individual use. 134
- Can fuse multiple inner forces into a destructive ultimate move. 101
- Its use previously risked internal backlash before the system was completed. 109
Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms
Gu Mo's principal offensive palm art, especially suited to the inexhaustible reserves of Nine Yang inner force.
- Uses eighteen forceful, highly adaptable palm stances centered on offense. 8
- Gu Mo's Martial Dao True Intent for the art is to “charge forward without hesitation.” 317
- Can manifest dragon-shaped qi, including techniques such as Riding Six Dragons, Twin Dragons Fetching Water, and Flying Dragon in the Sky. 176 195 231 259
- Its immense inner-force cost is largely mitigated by Gu Mo's Nine Yang and Bright Jade cultivation. 177
Sword, Saber, and Hidden-Weapon Arts
Gu Mo is proficient in multiple weapon paths and shifts styles fluidly during battle.
- Six Meridian Divine Sword — launches invisible sword qi from his fingers and can form sword arrays that seal escape routes. 129 131
- Nine Swords of Dugu — an adaptive sword art that exposes and breaks opponents' techniques. 238
- Little Gu Flying Dagger — a max-level throwing-knife technique capable of killing or seriously wounding masters at range. 264
- Dragon Capture Skill — projects invisible force to seize, pull, or restrain targets from a distance. 243 262
- Mystic Void Saber Technique — one of his established blade arts; he used it alongside Nine Yang inner force against Flying Dragon. 321
- Demon Immortal Barrier — his strongest documented technique against the Heavenly Gate, used to wound its giant eye. 21
Movement and Evasion
Gu Mo possesses exceptionally elusive movement techniques.
- Blend with Light and Dust allows him to vanish from an opponent's perception without obvious qi, sound, or movement. 86
- He can remain suspended in midair and move with enough speed to unsettle movement-art specialists. 129
- His movement allows him to evade attacks from high-level opponents such as Su Qianqiu and Dharma Master Liansheng. 86
Heavenly Silkworm Divine Skill
A regenerative inner art obtained from Shangguan Shang's bounty.
- Can heal wounds, detoxify, cure illness, regenerate damaged meridians, and restore necrotic organs. 111
- Enables cocoon-based recovery and cultivation growth while Gu Mo remains conscious. 111
- At the Ethereal Realm, can produce heavenly silk from any part of the body; the silk exceeds steel in strength. 129
- Functions as the protective component of Limitless Return to Origin Qi, reducing harm from conflicting inner forces. 129 134
Medical Knowledge
Gu Mo has developed advanced medical skill through Qi Miaoxuan's guidance and his own inner cultivation.
- Can stabilize poisoned heart meridians and detoxify allies. 317 318
- Assisted Qi Miaoxuan in treating poison and learned enough medicine to be praised as top-tier in the martial world. 108
- Used muscle-and-marrow cleansing methods to accelerate Gu Chundong's cultivation. 99
Nascent Soul and Dharma Manifestation
At his later peak, Gu Mo demonstrates power beyond ordinary martial arts.
- Shopkeeper Song identifies Gu Mo's ability to wield complete Nascent Soul Power without leaving his physical body as a True Ascension Realm capability; Gu Mo neither confirms nor denies the assessment. 36
- Can manifest a Dharma Idol combining wind, fire, lightning, and dark electricity into a destructive energy pillar. 77
- Understands domains and correctly inferred that a Nascent Soul-level domain could abduct victims without leaving traces. 14
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Demon Blade Gouchen — an inauspicious divine blade that drives wielders toward slaughter; Gu Mo suppressed it with Frozen Ice True Qi and later carried it in a black iron box. He intended to leave it to Gu Chundong. 189 200
