Background / History

Minato was Jiraiya's disciple when he met Uchiha Yue. Their shared interest in the Rasengan led them to spend hours discussing ninjutsu and training methods, beginning a friendship built on open exchange of knowledge 30.

He later served as Yue's instructor, recognizing Yue and Kakashi's potential while emphasizing practical experience against stronger opponents. Minato regularly shared his and Kushina's training insights with Yue, while Yue in turn openly discussed Falling Moon Style techniques 106 304 906.

During the wars, Minato led Konoha forces against Sunagakure. Despite commanding largely irregular troops, he personally led campaigns that repeatedly repelled Sunagakure, protected the Land of Fire, and seized territory in the Land of Wind 875. By this period, he was a quasi-Kage-level shinobi, though his reliance on the Flying Thunder God Technique and Rasengan series left him at a bottleneck short of true Kage-level power 906 1051.

After Yue left Konoha, Minato gained the Third Hokage's trust and became a leading figure of Konoha's new generation. Their former friendship eventually became open conflict as Minato opposed Asura's actions on Konoha's side 1100.

Minato was later resurrected through Uchiha Yue's use of the Death God's power. Initially controlled by the Death God, he regained his consciousness after Yue removed that influence; upon awakening, he sought to restore the friendship they had lost in life 1177 1178.

Personality

Minato remains calm and confident in dangerous situations, trusting his own strength even when facing an approaching war with inadequate forces 666. He is an attentive mentor who identifies weaknesses in his students' combat habits and advises them to develop a defining strength 59.

Although usually composed, he has a strong competitive streak. He welcomed the opportunity to fight Yue seriously, and Yue noted that Minato could not be entirely free of reservations when his former student rose to equal his own quasi-Kage standing 502 906.

He is deeply protective of his comrades. He remained beside Yue to cover the retreat of elite Uchiha units despite being ordered to withdraw, and he repeatedly risked himself to protect Kushina from Yue 936 1127 1131.
