Background

The Uchiha Clan and Senju Clan founded Konohagakure, establishing themselves as its original noble families. After the death of Senju Tobirama, the Senju faded from prominence, leaving the Uchiha to bear the resentment of later-arriving clans seeking status within the village. 7

Uchiha Madara's defection and battle against Senju Hashirama at the Valley of the End left a lasting stigma on the clan. Konoha's population revered Hashirama and regarded Madara as a traitor, while many Uchiha shared that view and ostracized Madara's descendants. This hostility affected even Uchiha Nara, an elite jonin whose lineage made him unwelcome both inside and outside the clan. 1

Despite its prestige, the clan remained under close observation by Konoha's leadership. The clan sought greater influence beyond its control of the Military Police Force, including using Anbu recruitment as an opening to place Uchiha Yue within the organization. History

Decline within Konoha

The clan suffered serious elite casualties, diminishing its influence until it could largely retain only control of the Police Force. Internal unrest followed, while the Hyuga Clan rose as a competing great clan under the combined pressure of Danzō's schemes and the Uchiha's weakened position. 356

Fugaku and Yue initially cooperated because each benefited from the other's position: Fugaku required Yue's prestige and strength, while Yue used clan resources and influence. Their partnership grew strained as Yue's power and status increasingly eclipsed that of the clan head. 220 705

Land of Water Campaign

When Yue left Konoha to rescue his mother, Fugaku ordered Uchiha elites to protect him, demonstrating that the clan was willing to risk its standing in Konoha for Yue's Mangekyō Sharingan and safety. 487

Departure from Konoha

After the Third Shinobi World War, Konoha's civilians blamed the Uchiha for the conflict and Fugaku began preparing a rebellion. Uchiha Shisui used Kotoamatsukami to change Fugaku's intentions, leading the clan to abandon Konoha and establish itself in a hidden shinobi village instead. 1140

To conceal the clan's survival, Uchiha Itachi was publicly branded a rogue ninja accused of massacring the clan, while his younger brother, Second Pillar, became part of Konoha's political explanation for its disappearance. 1140

War Against Konoha

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Fugaku led the returned Uchiha forces in a rapid offensive across the Land of Fire. Leveraging the clan's familiarity with the territory and Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan, they captured half of the country before Konoha could properly mobilize. 1181

The clan's expansion was eventually limited by manpower: it lacked enough members to securely administer the large number of towns it had occupied, forcing its elite shinobi to disperse as garrisons. 1201
