In the Hokage's Office in Konoha, Tsunade had been reviewing documents when she suddenly grew restless for no apparent reason. Unease welled up inside her, as though something terrible was about to happen. Tsunade knew that feeling all too well. She had felt it when tragedy struck her younger brother and Dan, and now it had returned.

Tsunade hurriedly pulled open a desk drawer and took out a lottery ticket she had tucked away inside. Then she picked up today's newspaper, found the winning numbers for the latest drawing, and carefully checked them against her ticket. The more numbers she checked, the more alarmed she became. When she finally confirmed that she had won the grand prize, her heart lurched.

She urgently shouted, "Shizune! Shizune!"

Shizune rushed in and asked, "Lady Tsunade, what happened?"

Tsunade said, "Find out how Jiraiya, Nawaki, and Naruto's group are doing right now. Oh, and that old man, the Third Hokage, too. Hurry. Go right now."

Although Shizune had no idea what had happened, she had never seen Tsunade so panicked. Not daring to ask any more questions, she immediately replied, "Yes, I'll go right away." With that, she hurried out.

Tsunade still could not calm down. Her heart was in turmoil, and her unease kept growing. Just as she was about to lose patience and go to the intelligence department herself, Shizune ran back in, followed by the Third Hokage and two aides.

Tsunade frowned, but before she could ask anything, the Third Hokage spoke. "Has something serious happened, Tsunade? Shizune just rushed to the intelligence department to ask about Nawaki, Naruto, Jiraiya, and me. What's going on?"

Tsunade replied, "Never mind that for now. Shizune, what did you find out?"

Shizune looked through a file and said, "Yes, I've checked everything. Lord Jiraiya
