"Naruto-kun, are you going to the Elven Forest? I heard there are lots of beautiful elves there." Hinata lay on her side in Naruto's arms, sounding both reluctant to let him go and a little jealous.
Naruto's expression froze. Puzzled, he thought, Are all women like this? Hinata never used to sound so jealous. Is she jealous of them? That doesn't make sense. She's even deliberately tried to set me up with her younger sister, Hanabi, hasn't she? That silly woman. If I hadn't kept pretending not to notice and muddled my way through, who knows how awkward things would have gotten? But what's with that tone? Did coming to this world change her personality and make her want me all to herself?
To be honest, Naruto was rather happy about Hinata's sudden change in attitude. After all, her jealousy meant she cared about him, didn't it? Before, she had kept trying to set him up with Hanabi and had even deliberately tried to bring Karin into the mix. For a while, that had made Naruto think Hinata didn't care about him.
Only now, with her showing jealousy, did Naruto feel that Hinata cared about him. Truthfully, he had noticed what was going on with Hanabi and Karin long ago; he had simply been playing dumb all this time. He wasn't the original Naruto with zero emotional intelligence. How could he not have noticed?
It was just that he really had always seen Karin and Hanabi as his younger sisters. Perhaps he felt a little something for Karin, but it was only the faintest trace.
