After a puff of smoke, a foot-long snake appeared. Sasuke looked utterly incredulous, while Naruto looked as though he wanted to laugh but didn't dare. Only Anko clutched her stomach and laughed without a care.
Seeing that Anko wouldn't stop laughing, Naruto finally protested, "Enough, Anko. You're going to crush Sasuke's confidence."
Anko waved a hand apologetically. "Sorry, I didn't mean to. But it's just too funny. I can't help it! Hahaha!" With that, she burst out laughing again.
Sasuke's face darkened. Seeing his expression, Naruto knew that foul temper of his was flaring up again. Naruto couldn't stand Anko mocking Sasuke like this either.
"Come on, how long are you going to laugh?" he said. "Hurry up and tell Sasuke how to summon a proper Summoning Beast instead of a pet like this."
Perhaps realizing she was being a little unkind, Anko coughed and stopped laughing. "It's because his chakra control is poor. To summon a useful Summoning Beast, he needs to concentrate his chakra more and use a greater amount of it."
After hearing Anko's explanation, Naruto encouraged him. "Sasuke, try again the way Anko told you. I'm sure you'll succeed this time. Go for it!"
Sasuke's expression softened slightly at Naruto's words. He formed hand seals again. "Summoning Jutsu!" After a puff of smoke, a snake roughly three meters long finally appeared.
Anko nodded. "Yes, that's more like it. Keep practicing just like that. I think you'll have mastered the Summoning Jutsu in a month."
Naruto was happy for Sasuke too. "Keep it up, Sasuke. I hope you'll be even stronger by the Chunin Ninja Exams in a month. Then we can settle who's better."
"Fine," Sasuke said confidently. "I'll beat you then."
"Not necessarily," Naruto said with a grin. "I'll have my own Summoning Beast too."
