Tirion Fordring offered a stern critique of his son's desire to break their appointment! He further advised that until Master Antonidas could devise a solution, he would do well to refrain from using the Holy Light and focus on being happy, as it was conducive to his growth.
Left with no other choice, Taelan Fordring had no option but to accompany the elder Fordring to visit Daelin Proudmoore. Daelin was delighted by Tirion's arrival; a drinking companion with shared experiences was a rare treasure indeed! The two soon began discussing life over drinks. They had already started planning a summer vacation to Caer Darrow to properly enjoy the local specialty rum.
Taelan Fordring and Jaina became two little wallflowers. Jaina seemed quite interested in Caer Darrow, while Taelan was more concerned with that famous painter. Thus, the two decided to head into the streets to catch the shapeshifting gnome instead!
As soon as they left the inn, Jaina grabbed Taelan's hand, and he could only let her lead the way. After all, they were just little kids now; no one would think anything of it. Neither of them had a specific destination, so they could only return to the scene of yesterday's incident to search! The result was a long, fruitless wait. They didn't see the shapeshifting gnome at all. Seeing Jaina's unhappy expression, Taelan Fordring had no choice but to use his private stash to buy her an ice cream, which finally brought a smile back to her face.
Taelan couldn't help but feel fortunate in his heart that the girls in this world were so easy to coax! A few novel snacks could keep them happy for an entire afternoon. It was nothing like the world of his previous life, where to keep a girlfriend happy, one not only had to cater to her every whim but also buy gifts for every holiday—except for Qingming Festival—along with an endless stream of digital red envelopes. And that was without even praying that his girlfriend didn't have a "magical" best friend! Of course, what was even more terrifying was if she had several male best friends!
Taelan said to Jaina, "Let's just walk around here; maybe we'll catch that little gnome."
Jaina replied, "Okay! I know there's a Wishing Well in Dalaran; it's a lot of fun, let's go check it out!"
The Wishing Well was a famous landmark in Dalaran, located in the East District right next to the Violet Hold. In World of Warcraft, it was a place where Highlords often gathered! There, you could fish while waiting for a dungeon or battleground queue, or read the messages on the wishing coins to learn the little secrets hidden in the hearts of the great figures of World of Warcraft. Taelan's past self had loved this place and had spent a great deal of time earning the achievement: Coin Master.
This achievement rewarded a treasure called the Dalaran Titansteel Seal. It was actually a toy that you could use to play heads or tails!
The method for this achievement was simple, but it was extremely time-consuming. Because the number of coins reached as many as 52 (and that was just the coins; there were others, of course), it wasn't easy to collect them all.
(I really want to write out the contents of every collectible gold coin; that would be enough to pad out an entire chapter!)
The two soon found the iconic building—the Violet Hold—and the Wishing Well was located in the Dusk Square right next to the prison. It was already afternoon, and after the massive search earlier that morning, there were still quite a few Spellbreakers patrolling. They even saw a squad of Lordaeron Royal Guards standing at attention, seemingly protecting some VIP, while there were very few tourists in the square.
Standing by the pool was a person named Marcia Chase; Taelan remembered that she was a fishing master. She was also the famous quest-giver for the Ghost Fish quest.
Taelan Fordring was only level 6 right now, so he likely had no quests available.
Jaina, however, pulled Taelan toward Marcia: "Good afternoon! Are you here every day?"
It seemed Jaina knew Marcia Chase! Seeing Jaina pulling a handsome little boy over, Marcia Chase smiled and said, "Hello, Jaina! Who is this handsome young man?"
Jaina's face flushed slightly as she said, "This is Taelan Fordring, my friend!"
"Oh! Hello, Taelan Fordring, I've already heard about what happened! Thanks to you yesterday, Dalaran caught three spies!"
"You're a good child! I can craft a Magic Wishing Coin for you! But it's not free!"
Jaina clapped her little hands and said, "That's great! How much? I brought my coin pouch today!"
Marcia said, "2 gold coins each, and each person can only buy one!"
What a profiteer! Not only did she take a gold coin, but she also limited the quantity!
Taelan Fordring's experience from his past life kicked in; he reached directly into his pocket for the small coin pouch Tirion Fordring had stuffed into his hand before they left, fished out 4 gold coins, and handed them to Marcia.
Seeing Taelan pay, Jaina suddenly giggled, her beautiful eyes curving into crescent moons!
She then took the two magic coins, handed one to Taelan, kept one for herself, and pulled Marcia aside to whisper something. Marcia nodded, cast a spell on the coins, and handed them back to Jaina. Once Jaina had the coin, she immediately walked to the edge of the Wishing Well, pressed her hands together in prayer for a moment, and tossed the coin into the water.
Taelan Fordring followed Jaina's lead and said to Marcia, "I hope to become a powerful Paladin, to protect those I love! To fight for justice for the rest of my life!" Marcia finished casting her spell quickly: "Good child! Your wish will surely come true! You are already a Paladin, and you will soon find the one you love."
Auntie, you've got the wrong idea! Taelan Fordring nodded, "Thank you!"
Once Jaina finished her wish, he stood before the Wishing Well, pressed his hands together, and silently made his own wish in his heart: "I hope my parents from my past life are well, and my current parents are happy and safe! I hope there is less pain in this world! I hope I can marry a beautiful, wealthy woman and reach the pinnacle of life! Uh, I accidentally said my inner thoughts out loud! The Holy Light will forgive me!"
"Ding! I find it very hard to forgive you!"
System, don't you go inserting yourself into this!
After Taelan Fordring tossed his wishing coin into the pool, Marcia saw that they had both finished. She took out two fishing rods and handed them to Jaina and Taelan respectively: "These are a gift, no extra charge! You can use them to fish in the pool! But you only have three chances; they have special significance, and then you can keep the one you like best. Don't choose wrong!"
Taelan Fordring was stunned. Was this an ad-lib? Did the director know about this?
(Yogg-Saron: "I don't know!")
Taelan Fordring took the fishing rod, and sure enough, it displayed 3/3 durability. Jaina happily thanked Marcia, took the rod, borrowed two small stools from her, and began to fish quietly.
Taelan sat on a small stool as well and cast his hook into the Wishing Well, hoping to fish up a gold coin so he wouldn't be fleeced by the profiteer!
Soon, he fished up a copper coin:
Alonsus Faol's Copper Coin
"I hope that one day, I can spread the path of the Holy Light to all people and teach them the meaning of the three virtues."
Well, a huge loss.
He decided to continue:
Sylvanas Windrunner's Gold Coin
"I hope my sisters can grow up with me and get married together!"
This coin looked quite ancient!
This was it—an ancient Quel'Thalas gold coin. If sold as an antique to someone who "knew their stuff," he could make at least 99 gold coins! Like Rafaam, perhaps?
Continue!
Jaina Proudmoore's Gold Coin
"I hope Taelan can come with me to Kul Tiras to visit my mother! I will make him Kul Tiran Honey-Glazed Loin."
The delicacies of Stormsong await you!
My level isn't high enough, really!
Asking for votes! Thank you!
