"What?"
Kilrogg's clanmates didn't understand what he meant.
"Never mind. You can all go back to sleep."
Kilrogg dismissed his clanmates.
As people got older, they found it harder to sleep. Orcs were no exception.
That night, when Kilrogg closed his eyes, a new thought crossed his mind.
Maybe I should find a time to have a serious talk with Orgrim...
If Kaldara knew what Kilrogg was thinking now, he would probably be quite pleased.
But for now, Kaldara had already made his way to the place in the orc camp where food was stored. He had wandered around there for quite a while, but at last, by the faint moonlight, he found what he had been looking for.
"Good. This is exactly what I need!"
A faint smile touched Kaldara's lips as he spoke to himself.
"The twin moons..."
Standing in the prisoner camp, Malone gazed up at the blue-white twin moons, hanging on opposite sides of the night sky, and couldn't help sighing in wonder.
In the game, Azeroth's twin moons had a strange allure—not just in the story, but for the players, too.
Malone had sometimes logged into his character at night and turned the camera toward the sky, watching the twin moons in the night from his computer screen.
But now that he was seeing them with his own eyes, he still couldn't believe it.
When people on ancient Earth looked at the moon, they dreamed that the beautiful Chang'e lived there... But what about Azeroth's moons?
Could the beautiful Moon Goddess Elune live on one of the twin moons?
"That's enough for today. It's too dark to see well at night, and we could easily hurt each other by accident."
Teron Gorefiend put away his staff and stood beside Malone.
"Yeah. Thanks, Teron."
Malone said gratefully.
After training with Teron Gorefiend all day, Malone felt that he had improved a lot. By now, he could use Death Coil in a fight with near-fluency.
"What are you thanking me for..."
Teron Gorefiend shook his head.
"Shouldn't you go check on her? That human woman?"
Teron Gorefiend suddenly reminded Malone.
"Oh, no!"
Malone smacked his thigh in frustration.
The day's exhilarating training with Teron Gorefiend had made Malone forget all about Tiffany.
Coming back to his senses, Malone hurried back to the wooden hut where Tiffany was staying.
As soon as he stepped inside, Malone realized he could barely see a thing.
There was plenty of daylight, but even though the outdoors was still bright at night, the hut was much too dark.
"Tiffany?"
Malone asked softly.
"Mr. Malone!"
The girl's delighted voice came from the darkness.
"Mr. Malone, where are you? Why can't I see you?"
After her initial excitement, Tiffany complained anxiously.
"It's too dark in here..."
Malone explained. Then he sat down near the entrance, leaning his back against a stump.
"Oh..."
Tiffany sounded a little dispirited, though Malone didn't know why.
"Mr. Malone..."
"Tiffany..."
They spoke at almost the same time, then both fell silent.
"You go first..."
"You go first..."
Their voices collided again, leaving Malone and Tiffany momentarily stunned. Then the girl laughed brightly.
"Hehe... Mr. Malone, you go first. What were you going to say?"
Tiffany said.
"I... heh... You go first. Ladies first."
Malone replied.
"Mm... Mr. Malone, I just wanted to say, welcome back!"
Tiffany's voice was sweet and clear.
"Is that all you wanted to say...? I haven't actually been gone all day. I was outside the whole time."
Malone explained.
"I know... Sometimes I could hear your voice."
Tiffany said with a smile.
"By the way, Mr. Malone... They didn't hurt you, did they?"
Tiffany remembered hearing Malone's voice earlier and couldn't help worrying.
It was no wonder Tiffany was worried. When Malone had shouted during training, he had either been giving it his all or getting hit, and there was bound to be pain in his voice.
Although Malone and Teron Gorefiend spoke in Orcish, which Tiffany couldn't understand, some basic exclamations were the same in any language.
"No, no. Teron was just training me. We're... good friends. You don't have to worry about him hurting me."
Malone explained.
"Oh..."
Tiffany nodded.
In the darkness, she couldn't see Malone's face, but hearing his familiar voice was enough to put her at ease.
Malone didn't say anything more, simply enjoying the moment of peace.
Perhaps, after escaping the orc camp, Malone wouldn't spend much more time with Tiffany.
Though he was quite fond of the beautiful human girl, he still hadn't decided to change his original plan.
Rescuing Tiffany was already a dangerous gamble when it came to changing the timeline. For a time traveler like Malone, it was practically a slow suicide.
Malone couldn't stand by and watch the orcs abuse or torture Tiffany, but once he had made sure she was safe, for his own sake...
He still wanted to leave.
Of course, Malone wasn't going to tell Tiffany any of this. There was still plenty of time before her injured foot healed.
Just then, a serious problem suddenly occurred to Malone.
"Tiffany..."
Malone asked hesitantly, unsure whether he was too late to bring it up.
"Hmm?"
The girl's puzzled voice came from the darkness.
"Are you... hungry?"
Malone struggled to ask.
"Ah? I..."
Tiffany sounded flustered.
Malone couldn't see Tiffany's expression in the dark, but at that moment, he was filled with guilt.
I said I'd protect this human girl, but I've forgotten all about her for the entire day...
His own body might be unusual, needing only the occasional bit of food, but Tiffany was a frail young woman. How could she go the whole day without eating?
"It's... it's all my fault, Tiffany. Wait here. I'll go get you something to eat right now."
As he spoke, Malone pushed himself to his feet, bracing a hand against the stump.
"Mr... Mr. Malone, you don't have to hurry. I..."
Tiffany hastily tried to call Malone back.
Tiffany really had gone hungry all day. Although she had shared a little meat porridge with Malone in the morning, and it had indeed been the only proper meal she'd had in several days, it still wasn't enough to keep her going all day.
Even so, Tiffany didn't want Malone to leave just then.
First, it was rare to have someone here to keep her company. Second...
