Background / History

Before becoming Caesar, Kerythra encountered Hysilens on a battlefield after the Siren had driven back Strife alone. She offered Hysilens a feast after victory in return for absolute loyalty, promising to become her light after the gods' deceptions had left her adrift. Hysilens accepted her Law as the principle of her life and became Kerythra's sword-banner. 246

Kerythra united the states of Amphoreus under her rule and established herself as the new Law. At the Hall of the Three Phases of Fate, she crushed a priestly revolt: after Hysilens eliminated the attackers, Kerythra burned the defiant priest to ash with blue flame from her crown-shaped scepter. 175

As Caesar, Kerythra received Stelle and Cyrene as honored guests after recognizing the prophecy of a Savior arriving “from beyond the sky.” She convened the Moth Alliance early, revealed her possession of the Law Core Flame, and prepared an expedition against the Ocean Titan Fagina. 177 178 182

Her campaign concealed a catastrophic price. In Light Calendar 3960, she sacrificed five hundred Chrysos Heirs to complete the trial of Law. The same year, she was assassinated, leaving Aglaea to assume command and begin humanity's second Journey of Flame-Chasing. 228

Kerythra's later memories reveal that she understood the authority of Law could rewrite reality only through equivalent sacrifice. Her stated plan to save Amphoreus required overturning one Law and offering one demigod—Hysilens—though she ultimately ordered Hysilens either to devote herself to conquest or kill the tyrant herself. 271 273 274

Hysilens mortally wounded Kerythra, ending Caesar's rule. Before dying, Kerythra arranged for the Sea of Heaven and Earth Realm to be delivered to Hysilens, fulfilling her wish to grant the Siren a new sea. 275
