Background / History

Before becoming Caesar, Kerythra encountered Hysilens on a battlefield after the Siren had driven back Strife alone. She offered Hysilens a feast after victory in return for absolute loyalty, promising to become her light after the gods' deceptions had left her adrift. Hysilens accepted her Law as the principle of her life and became Kerythra's sword-banner. 246

Kerythra united the states of Amphoreus under her rule and established herself as the new Law. At the Hall of the Three Phases of Fate, she crushed a priestly revolt: after Hysilens eliminated the attackers, Kerythra burned the defiant priest to ash with blue flame from her crown-shaped scepter. 175

As Caesar, Kerythra received Stelle and Cyrene as honored guests after recognizing the prophecy of a Savior arriving “from beyond the sky.” She convened the Moth Alliance early, revealed her possession of the Law Core Flame, and prepared an expedition against the Ocean Titan Fagina. 177 178 182

Her campaign concealed a catastrophic price. In Light Calendar 3960, she sacrificed five hundred Chrysos Heirs to complete the trial of Law. The same year, she was assassinated, leaving Aglaea to assume command and begin humanity's second Journey of Flame-Chasing. 228

Kerythra's later memories reveal that she understood the authority of Law could rewrite reality only through equivalent sacrifice. Her stated plan to save Amphoreus required overturning one Law and offering one demigod—Hysilens—though she ultimately ordered Hysilens either to devote herself to conquest or kill the tyrant herself. 271 273 274

Hysilens mortally wounded Kerythra, ending Caesar's rule. Before dying, Kerythra arranged for the Sea of Heaven and Earth Realm to be delivered to Hysilens, fulfilling her wish to grant the Siren a new sea. She also entrusted Cyrene with a preserved memory to be given to Hysilens when her mission was complete. 269 275

After her revival, Kerythra conquered Sea God Island on Douluo Continent. Poseidon's statue was toppled and replaced by hers, provoking his anger. Rather than immediately distributing rewards to prospective followers, she planned to train troops through war and require military achievements in exchange for resources and opportunities. 314 326 340

Kerythra has a petite, delicate build that contrasts sharply with her imposing imperial presence. She is usually depicted with a small candle-like crown and maintains a posture of absolute authority even when facing far stronger opponents. 174 182 211

Her confidence stems from a record of conquest, yet she remains alert to hidden motives and refuses to trust even powerful allies without testing them. 182 215

She demands loyalty without compromise. Kerythra uses fear, public displays of force, and carefully staged tests to determine who is useful or sincere; Hysilens, Stelle, Cyrene, and Laicus all become subjects of her scrutiny. 211 214 219

Her ruthlessness is matched by a genuine desire to secure Amphoreus's future. She rejects Laicus's path of Destruction, refuses to let her civilization become a vassal of greater interstellar powers, and seeks to forge an independent order among the stars. 188 270 271

Despite her cold public image, Kerythra retains a quieter attachment to Hysilens and Amphoreus. In her final message, she gives Hysilens a new sea and urges her to swim toward a new dawn rather than remain bound to Caesar. 269 271 275

Kerythra places little value on how posterity defines her. In a later encounter with Stelle's group, she remains disdainful and guarded even as the others face a decisive battle; she does not regard Phainon as someone she can readily trust. 274 384
