Year 30 of Konoha.

After Hashirama Senju died, the First Shinobi World War broke out and lasted for several years.

In that war, the Second Kage of every village perished, and the Third Kage took center stage in the Shinobi World.

Several years after the war ended, its aftermath gradually died down. The Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, took charge of Konoha and continued the Second Hokage's policies, vigorously expanding Ninja Academy education.
