• Uchiha Hikari laughed wildly as she chased down the Summoning Beasts and knocked them down with her palm strikes.
• Pain confronted Guy, Kakashi, Itachi, Orochimaru, and Tobirama with five other Rinnegan-bearing figures, and the group prepared to fight them.
• Tobirama demanded to know why Konoha’s forces and Hokage Uchiha Genya had not responded, and Orochimaru explained that Xuanye had planned the invasion as a test.

Might Guy unleashed the Eight Gates against Pain, using overwhelming speed and taijutsu to destroy several of the Six Paths. Pain watched from the air, shaken by the power of Guy’s attacks.

• Guy opened the sixth gate, caught the Asura Path’s flying fist, and crushed it.
• Guy used Morning Peacock to destroy the Asura Path before it could fire its laser cannon.
• Pain ordered the remaining Paths to attack Guy together.
• Guy opened the seventh gate, shattered the Preta Path, crushed the Animal Path’s partially summoned beast, and tore apart the Human Path with Daytime Tiger.
• Pain flew above the battlefield to evade Daytime Tiger’s blast and watched in fear as it shredded the forest.

Might Guy opened the Eighth Gate of Death and defeated the Deva Path, destroying all six Paths of Pain. He left Pain in ruins, but the Gate’s deadly strain threatened Guy’s life.

• Pain concentrated the Rinnegan’s Chakra in the Deva Path and prepared to unleash Super Shinra Tensei.
• Guy opened the Eighth Gate of Death, filling the area with blood-red Chakra as his body began to crack under the strain.
• Guy charged through the Deva Path’s Shinra Tensei and struck Yahiko’s body with Evening Elephant.
• Guy drove the Deva Path into the ground, destroying his upper body and leaving all six Paths defeated.

After Konoha destroyed the Six Paths of Pain, Konan tried to flee with the badly weakened Nagato, who still wanted to recover Yahiko’s body. Uchiha Genya appeared in their hidden cavern and confronted them, leaving their fate in his hands.

• Nagato coughed up blood after the Six Paths of Pain were destroyed, and Konan used her chakra to ease his condition.
• Konan urged Nagato to escape, but he refused to leave Yahiko’s body behind until she reminded him Yahiko was dead.
• Konan made a paper crane and carried Nagato away from the cavern, deciding they had to abandon their plan rather than risk another confrontation with Konoha.

Xuanye confronted Nagato and Konan while explaining that Obito had fled rather than risk facing him. On Konoha’s battlefield, Guy appeared to have died after using the Eight Gates, but he was suddenly revealed to be alive and unharmed.

• Xuanye told Nagato and Konan that Obito had abandoned them and that he intended to eliminate Madara if he became a threat.
• Nagato accused Xuanye of coldly watching Guy sacrifice himself to test the Eight Gates, but Xuanye questioned whether Guy would really die.
• Kakashi reached the apparently dying Guy and mourned that he had used the Eight Gates to protect Konoha.

Might Guy revealed that Orochimaru’s technology had let him use Izanagi to survive opening the Eight Gates, prompting Kakashi to consider seeking enhancements of his own. Elsewhere, Konan threatened Xuanye with a cavern packed with Explosive Tags as Nagato’s plan collapsed, but Xuanye remained unfazed.

• Guy removed his colored contacts to reveal a Sharingan and explained that Izanagi had saved him after he opened the Eight Gates.
• Tobirama questioned how Guy had obtained the Sharingan, and Guy credited Lord Orochimaru's Research Department with the breakthrough.

• Genya told Tobirama that Hashirama had approved his relationship with Tsunade and promised to name their future child Uchiha Tobirama, leaving Tobirama enraged as his coffin closed.
• Genya warned Orochimaru not to summon Hashirama and Tobirama together and said Tobirama’s control could only be used once.
• Genya gave Orochimaru one Rinnegan and ordered him to prepare Nawaki’s resurrection for Konoha’s leaders to witness, then roll out the Astartes enhancements to Konoha’s ninja.
• Orochimaru agreed to the plan and resolved to bring Nawaki back to life despite the years of servitude he had endured for Genya.
• Obito emerged from the Kamui Dimension, tore off his mask, and lamented that the Akatsuki had been defeated, Nagato and Konan captured, and Genya had awakened the Rinnegan.

With Konoha holding the Rinnegan and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, Obito and Black Zetsu decided they had no choice but to revive Uchiha Madara. Obito joined forces with Sarutobi Hiruzen and summoned the coffin containing Madara’s remains.

• Obito and Black Zetsu realized Konoha’s growing power had left them with no option but to awaken Uchiha Madara.
• Obito pulled Sarutobi Hiruzen from the Kamui Dimension, and Hiruzen recognized him as the one who had released the Nine-Tails.
• Obito accused Hiruzen of carrying even greater crimes and told him they had to find a way to defeat Uchiha Genya.
• Black Zetsu urged Obito to revive Madara because the Rinnegan had fallen into enemy hands.

With the Akatsuki Organization defeated and Nagato captured, Obito and Black Zetsu considered summoning Uchiha Madara as their only chance against Uchiha Genya. Sarutobi Hiruzen proposed using Impure World Reincarnation, but his version was incomplete, so Black Zetsu sent them to seek improved techniques and other allies while making backup plans of his own.

• Obito and Black Zetsu concluded that they needed Uchiha Madara’s strength to counter Uchiha Genya and Konoha.

• Fugaku regretted giving up command of the Security Division, which had grown to over fifty thousand personnel across the Land of Fire.
• Xuanye told Fugaku he had to step down but invited him to request compensation for his family.

Kabuto accepted the mission with a Rinnegan as proof of loyalty, while Xuanye promised that Nonō was safe in the Castle Keep.

• Xuanye assigned Kabuto to return undercover to the Akatsuki Organization, and Orochimaru revealed an improved Impure World Reincarnation technique and dozens of reanimated fighters.
• Xuanye ordered Kabuto to help Obito Uchiha and Sarutobi Hiruzen launch a war that would exhaust the other Four Great Ninja Villages while Konoha stayed out of the fighting.
