Since Ye Ming had nowhere to stay, Son Goku arranged for him to stay in one of his guest houses.
Every day, Son Goku kept pestering Ye Ming to spar with him. But Ye Ming was a man of his word. He'd said they would spar in the Realm of the Gods after meeting up with Vegeta, and that was what he intended to do.
Son Goku knew Ye Ming was set in his ways, so he didn't push the issue. Instead, the two discussed combat tactics and shared their battle experience.
This was one of Ye Ming's weak points, so he listened carefully to Son Goku's advice. He absorbed Son Goku's combat experience and blended it with his own ideas about fighting.
The gains were considerable!
Three days flew by, and soon Vegeta arrived to meet up with Son Goku and Ye Ming.
Seeing the battle lust in Vegeta's eyes, Ye Ming grew excited too. Vegeta might have been slightly weaker than Son Goku, but he was still the Saiyan Prince.
Ye Ming wanted to experience Vegeta's Prince Tactics for himself, and, more than anything, learn from a fight against a different kind of opponent.
Soon, Son Goku took Vegeta and Ye Ming to the Realm of the Gods with Instant Transmission.
They quickly found Old Kai and Shin. Son Goku greeted them warmly. "Long time no see, Old Kai. And you too, Shin."
"So it's Goku. What kind of trouble are you planning to stir up this time?" Old Kai looked at Son Goku with disdain.
"Nothing like that. I just want to use the Realm of the Gods to spar with my friend." Goku scratched his head.
Old Kai looked past Son Goku at Ye Ming, narrowing his eyes slightly. He'd already sensed the battle between Son Goku and Ye Ming earlier.
He'd seen Ye Ming's strength for himself. Ye Ming was incredibly strong, even stronger than Goku.
Old Kai also knew how much potential Ye Ming had. After sparring with Goku just once, his strength had risen by several stages.
"Fine, but don't get carried away," Old Kai said.
Shin added, "I'm looking forward to seeing our new friend's strength too. I saw him last time, but it's a shame I didn't get to witness it in person."
Ye Ming stepped forward. "Hello. My name is Ye Ming, and I'm a Saiyan. I've only just arrived, so please look after me."
Old Kai and Shin nodded.
What Ye Ming was really thinking was: I should ask Old Kai to draw out my potential. Son Gohan had his potential unlocked, so perhaps I can have mine unlocked too.
He'd bring it up after the spar. Changing the subject, Ye Ming and the others headed to an open area, where Son Goku and Vegeta took up their fighting stances.
Watching the two of them, Ye Ming felt his Saiyan cells stir. His eyes shone as he studied them.
From a distance, Old Kai and Shin watched. "Old Ancestor, who do you think will win? It's two against one, after all."
Old Kai glanced at Shin. "Do you even need to ask? Ye Ming, obviously."
"Really, Old Ancestor? You have that much faith in Ye Ming?"
"Good grief. I'll be grateful if you ever develop half my eye for these things."
Shin scratched his head awkwardly.
Boom! Old Kai and Shin snapped back to the fight. It had already begun.
Vegeta attacked first, with Son Goku close behind. Ye Ming decided to defend at first, study their patterns, and adjust his approach accordingly.
At first, Ye Ming was on the back foot, but he wasn't hurt at all. Vegeta and Son Goku began attacking him from both sides. Their fists and feet traded blows, offense and defense changing in the blink of an eye as they exchanged dozens of moves.
Suddenly, they pulled away from each other. Vegeta powered up first, transforming into a Super Saiyan, and Son Goku followed suit.
They rushed Ye Ming at once, giving him no time to react. Their fists slammed into him, and he crashed hard onto the ground.
They've never fought together before, but Saiyans have a natural understanding of one another, Ye Ming thought.
Ye Ming sprang to his feet and raised his power, charging straight at Son Goku and Vegeta.
Suddenly, the system's voice rang in his ears: "Congratulations, host. You have obtained Kaioken and Super Saiyan Second Stage Full Power."
He wouldn't use Kaioken yet. He hadn't learned it from King Kai, and revealing it now would raise questions, Ye Ming thought.
In the blink of an eye, he exchanged dozens of blows with Vegeta and Son Goku. Before long, he'd adapted to the rhythm of their coordinated attacks.
Vegeta realized Ye Ming was a true combat genius, with a talent for fighting that might even surpass Kakarot's and his own.
Vegeta and Kakarot exchanged a glance, then stepped up the pace of their assault.
To end this quickly, I have to take one of them out. Vegeta is a little weaker, so I'll start with him, Ye Ming thought.
But then Son Goku and Vegeta suddenly unleashed their full power. Vegeta went Super Saiyan Second Stage Full Power, while Son Goku reached Super Saiyan Third Stage.
Ye Ming hadn't expected them to be so decisive. They'd been fighting for less than two minutes, and they were already using everything they had.
They know they can't beat me with just their Super Saiyan 1 forms. Fine. I'll show them the respect they deserve!
Ye Ming pulled away and landed atop a tall rock. He powered up, golden light flashing around him, and transformed into Super Saiyan First Stage Full Power.
As they watched Ye Ming's strength continue to rise, Vegeta and Son Goku's expressions turned grave. They knew how powerful Ye Ming was in Super Saiyan First Stage Full Power, but they hadn't expected him to be this terrifying.
The sight shook Vegeta to the core. As the Saiyan Prince, he'd never felt anything like this before. Ye Ming was like a towering mountain pressing down on him, leaving him unable to breathe.
The mountain beneath Ye Ming's feet collapsed. He appeared before Vegeta and Son Goku in an instant and punched Vegeta squarely in the face.
Vegeta flew away in pain, blood running from the corner of his mouth. Seeing Vegeta get knocked aside, Son Goku rushed to fight Ye Ming.
But Son Goku gradually fell behind. Soon, Ye Ming kicked him in the stomach and sent him crashing to the ground.
Ye Ming immediately flashed over to Vegeta and punched him in the stomach.
Vegeta sensed the attack just in time and dodged with Instant Transmission. Ye Ming swung back, and a Spirit Bomb appeared beside Vegeta, hurtling toward him.
Vegeta couldn't react in time, so he could only cross his arms in front of himself to block.
Boom!!!
A terrifying blast erupted beside Vegeta. When the dust cleared, his armor was shattered, and he looked battered.
Ye Ming was simply too fast; Vegeta hadn't had time to react. Ye Ming suddenly flashed over to Son Goku, who reacted at once and used Instant Transmission to appear beside Vegeta.
"Vegeta, are you all right?" Goku asked anxiously.
"If you're fine, how could I not be?" Vegeta panted.
The grim looks on Vegeta and Son Goku's faces deepened. They'd realized that even working together, they couldn't defeat Ye Ming. What were they supposed to do?
Watching from afar, Old Kai's eyes widened. He'd expected a gap in their strength, but not one this enormous.
It was fair to say that Ye Ming was utterly dominating Vegeta and Son Goku, even when they fought together at full power.
"Ye Ming is an incredible Saiyan. I thought Son Goku had reached the peak of mortal strength, but this man's arrival has already upset the balance," Old Kai said gravely.
Vegeta and Son Goku were locked in a stalemate with Ye Ming. By now, Ye Ming felt he'd completely adjusted to this body, the body with the strongest Saiyan power. (For now, at least, it was the strongest Saiyan body.)
Son Goku and Vegeta exchanged a glance. They knew they couldn't defeat Ye Ming, and the gap in their strength was obvious.
"We have one more way to spar with him," Son Goku said to Vegeta.
Vegeta raised an eyebrow. "Kakarot, don't tell me you mean fusion?"
"I swore that after the Majin Buu incident, I'd never fuse with you again," Vegeta said.
"But are you really satisfied with that?" Son Goku asked at once. "He's an incredible opponent. Even after we fuse, we'll still feel what it's like to fight firsthand, and we can grow stronger too."
Vegeta frowned. He couldn't deny it: Ye Ming was an opponent they couldn't beat, and the difference in strength was obvious.
Vegeta even suspected Ye Ming was holding back. His suspicion wasn't wrong; Ye Ming really was holding back.
Ye Ming had already adapted to their attacks, and as the battle went on, his strength kept pouring out.
Vegeta said, "Just this once. There won't be a next time."
"Great!" Son Goku said happily. "Let's fuse and take him on."
Son Goku and Vegeta's voices carried to Ye Ming. Son Goku called out, "Ye Ming, do you mind if we fuse? You said we could challenge you by any means."
Ye Ming was surprised, but he answered, "Fusion?"
Son Goku explained, "Vegeta and I become one using the God of Destruction's earrings. We turn into a brand-new warrior, and I promise he won't disappoint you."
Ye Ming nodded. "Sure. Go ahead."
With Ye Ming's permission, the two wasted no time. They hurried over to Shin and said, "Shin, could we borrow your earrings?"
Shin looked to Old Kai. Only after Old Kai nodded did he hand the earrings over.
Son Goku took them eagerly and immediately fused with Vegeta.
Son Goku wore one earring on his left ear and Vegeta wore the other on his right. In an instant, the sky split open, and a dazzling light filled the heavens above the Realm of the Gods.
Boom!!!
The legendary invincible warrior Vegito appeared before Ye Ming.
Ye Ming smiled. So in the end, I'm going to be fighting myself.
Too bad their fusion has a time limit. Mine is permanent, and I can adapt to it perfectly.
Looking at Vegito's invincible figure, Ye Ming felt an overwhelming desire to fight.
