Background / History

Dragon Clan Survivor

Di Tian witnessed the splendor of the God Dragon Realm and survived the Dragon Clan’s decline. With True Dragons nearly extinct, he united most land-dwelling soul beasts and protected those within Star Dou Forest. He spent centuries searching for the Dragon Tomb, hoping to consult his ancestors and possibly find the Dragon God’s remains 181 192.

For over ten thousand years, he waited for his injured master to recover. He believed that the Silver Dragon King, supported by the Emperor Auspicious Beast’s fortune, could restore the soul beasts’ prosperity. Only after securing that future did he intend to pursue his personal dream of roaming the cosmos 181.

Fragile Peace with Humanity

During a beast tide more than a century before his visit to Shrek Academy, human Soul Tools inflicted substantial losses on soul beasts. Bi Ji persuaded Di Tian to accept a truce rather than continue sacrificing their weaker members 181.

The agreement did not remove his concerns. Humans could develop weapons and cultivate far faster than soul beasts could mature, while their demand for Soul Rings continually depleted the forest’s population. Di Tian feared eventual extermination or captivity and regarded the Auspicious Beast’s accelerated growth effect as a crucial protection against that outcome 181.

The Auspicious Beast’s Escape

After the Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s encounter with Liu Yuan, Di Tian tore open space to retrieve her and Scarlet King. He punished Scarlet King for failing his assignment and warned the lion not to leave the core region casually. His severity stemmed partly from sensing a divine-level spiritual fluctuation and fearing that a god might target her 16 17.

Two years later, Bi Ji persuaded him to let the supposedly secluded Auspicious Beast take a walk. Scarlet King discovered an empty residence, missing treasures, and accumulated dust. Di Tian concluded that she had concealed her departure through luck and fate, transformed into a human, and entered human society 181.

Confrontation at Shrek Academy

Di Tian traveled alone to Shrek Academy, confident that its defenders could not stop him. He demanded the return of the Auspicious Beast and accused a student of drawing her away from the forest. Mu En subsequently invited him into the Sea God Pavilion, where he recognized her as Di Qiu’er 181 182.

Her love for Liu Yuan angered him. He argued that human–soul-beast relationships had no secure future and that her fortune belonged to the entire forest. Di Qiu’er refused to return, while Mu En defended her right to choose as both a Shrek student and his disciple. Di Tian maintained that he loved her as his child, even apart from her auspicious power, but believed the forest was the only place where he could protect her properly 182.

Soul Spirits and Cloning

Liu Yuan redirected the dispute toward the survival of soul beasts. He proposed voluntary Soul Spirit contracts to replace killing for Soul Rings and cloning to preserve endangered or extinct bloodlines. Snow Empress’s appearance as a Soul Spirit provided an initial demonstration; the possibility of restoring True Dragons prompted Di Tian to promise Liu Yuan protection 183.

A cloned Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff cub strengthened the proposal. Di Tian recognized the species and recalled witnessing its last member die when he was young. Nevertheless, he demanded complete, practical systems rather than isolated examples, noting that bloodline reversion could otherwise explain the cub 184.

He provisionally allowed Di Qiu’er to remain at Shrek, gave her and Liu Yuan protective Reverse Scale pendants, and returned to the forest with the cub. There, he announced cooperation with humanity as necessary policy and violently subdued Bear Lord’s opposition 184 185.

About a year later, Di Tian welcomed Liu Yuan and Di Qiu’er to the forest’s core. He explained the Lake of Life’s importance to the ecosystem and summoned the six great ferocious beasts for demonstrations. When Bear Lord attacked the visitors, Di Tian blocked the strike, knocked him away, and reprimanded him for endangering the Auspicious Beast and defying orders 190 191.

The Dragon God’s Hidden History

Di Tian offered his own blood as material for cloning True Dragons. Liu Yuan instead proposed collecting genes from Dragon Valley’s many remains. Di Tian agreed to a visit for research and training, permitted the acquisition of soul bones only with the dragon souls’ consent, and requested a search for surviving eggs 192.

He also hoped Liu Yuan could become a god and persuade the Divine Realm to lift its prohibition on soul-beast ascension. Liu Yuan challenged the beliefs behind that plan: Heavenly Tribulations arose through cosmic rules, and the accepted account of the Dragon God’s defeat concealed his willing death 192 193.

Di Tian sought confirmation from the Silver Dragon King. Her answers established that the Dragon God had allowed Asura God to kill him and that the subsequent suppression involved an agreement and the Beast Tribe’s misunderstanding. She treated the claim that the Dragon God imposed tribulation restrictions as likely true, while professing ignorance of the act itself 193.

The revelations destroyed Di Tian’s idealized image of the Dragon God. Rather than abandon his responsibilities, he resolved to secure the Soul Beast Clan’s future himself. He returned to Liu Yuan, confirmed that he believed the account, and resumed cooperation on Soul Spirits and cloning 193.

Appearance

  • Human form: Described as handsome when he emerges above Shrek Academy 181.
  • Eyes: Golden pupils that become especially imposing when he exerts pressure 17 185.
  • Dragon form: A black dragon; he can restore individual body parts, such as his hand, to clawed dragon form 163 185.
  • Common posture: Frequently stands with his hands behind his back while watching the Lake of Life 181 192.

Personality

Di Tian is proud, stern, and confident in his strength. He respects powerful human opponents enough to address them by title, yet privately scorns Mu En’s “Dragon God Douluo” designation. He treats challenges to his authority harshly, particularly when they jeopardize the forest’s survival 181 185 191.

His protectiveness toward Di Qiu’er is genuinely paternal but controlling. He considers her both his child and a bearer of responsibility toward every soul beast in the forest. Their confrontation forces him to confront the difference between safeguarding her and respecting the life she has chosen 182 184.

Despite his hostility toward humanity, Di Tian can change policy when offered a credible alternative. He scrutinizes Liu Yuan’s evidence, recognizes the danger of cloning turning soul beasts into livestock, and accepts cooperation because survival matters more than vengeance. His recovery from the Dragon God revelations likewise rests on duty to his people rather than loyalty to an idealized ruler 183 184 185 193.

Abilities & Skills

Dragon God Claw

  • Di Tian’s strongest ultimate move, according to Liu Yuan 162.
  • Liu Yuan states that no soul beast in his world can withstand its edge 162.
  • Its resemblance to Liu Yuan’s Dragon-Slaying technique is recognized by Di Qiu’er, but the provided encounters do not establish which technique is stronger 162 169.

Spatial Manipulation

  • Tears open space to retrieve Scarlet King and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion 16.
  • Creates a spatial rift approximately one hundred meters long to travel to Shrek Academy 181.
  • Uses spatial movement to reach the forest’s outskirts and opens the entrance to the Silver Dragon King’s hidden space beneath the Lake of Life 190 193.

Combat Power and Defensive Barriers

  • Presented as the continent’s foremost combatant; Shrek’s defenders doubt that the entire academy could defeat him alone 181.
  • Condenses his pressure into a golden barrier and overwhelms Bear Lord, leaving wounds deep enough to expose bone 185.
  • Creates a black barrier that easily blocks Bear Lord’s attack on Liu Yuan and Di Qiu’er, then sends him flying with a claw strike 190.

Spiritual Perception and Pressure

  • Detects a divine-level spiritual fluctuation associated with the Auspicious Beast’s earlier encounter 17.
  • Identifies Liu Yuan’s dense life energy, affinity with nature, and resonance with the Golden Ancient Tree through spiritual examination 182.
  • Possesses spiritual power described as bordering on divine sense, allowing him to detect Di Qiu’er at the forest’s edge 190.
  • Can prevent nearby beasts from eavesdropping on a private discussion 193.

Twin Soul Cores

  • Snow Empress identifies Di Tian as the model for her attempt to form Twin Soul Cores through the Yin-Yang Complementary Method 183.
  • Her attempt fails; the passage does not document when Di Tian achieved the configuration 183.

Reverse Scale Protection

  • His Reverse Scale pendants allow him to sense mortal danger to their wearers and come to their protection 184.
  • He gives pendants to Liu Yuan and Di Qiu’er as safeguards after their negotiation 184.
  • Liu Yuan’s pendant also conceals him from the gods. Di Tian plans to remove it once Liu Yuan becomes a Super Douluo so that the Divine Realm can discover him 192.

Relationships

  • Di Qiu’er / Three-Eyed Golden Lion — Raised and protected by Di Tian for roughly ten thousand years. He regards her as his child and eventually permits her to remain with Liu Yuan, reminding her that Star Dou Forest is still her home 162 182 184.
  • Liu Yuan — Initially viewed as the human who stole away the Auspicious Beast; becomes a protected collaborator whose Soul Spirit and cloning technologies offer a future for soul beasts and True Dragons 182 183 184 192.
  • First-generation Sacred Dragon King — His father. The relationship is first revealed during Liu Yuan’s visit to Dragon Valley and later acknowledged in their discussion of the Order Dragon Wings 162 192.
  • Silver Dragon King — His injured master, whom he serves beneath the Lake of Life. After learning the Dragon God’s history, Di Tian remains committed to his people but becomes more doubtful of promises based on restoring the Dragon God’s power 181 193.
  • Bi Ji — Trusted adviser who advocates peace and tempers his strict treatment of the Auspicious Beast. She helps explain the benefits of cooperation to the other beast kings 17 181 185.
  • Scarlet King — Subordinate entrusted with guarding the Auspicious Beast. Di Tian punishes his negligence and later interrogates him for clues to her disappearance 17 181.
  • Bear Lord / Xiong Jun — Powerful but insubordinate subordinate. Di Tian repeatedly subdues him for opposing cooperation or attacking protected visitors 185 190 191.
  • Mu En — Human counterpart in the peace agreement and initial opponent over Di Qiu’er’s freedom. Their confrontation develops into cooperation between Shrek Academy and Star Dou Forest 182 183 185.
  • Snow Empress — Fellow soul-beast ruler whose Twin Soul Core attempt followed his example. Her existence as Liu Yuan’s Soul Spirit becomes evidence for the proposed system 183.
  • Dragon God — Once his revered sovereign and the focus of his hopes for restoration. Learning the truth of the ancient catastrophe shatters that reverence and redirects his loyalty toward the Soul Beast Clan itself 181 193.
