A few days after resolving the Frieza incident, in the God of Destruction Realm of Universe 7.
Son Goku and Vegeta were clad in heavy white gravity suits, their bodies held perfectly straight as they performed standard handstand push-ups, supporting their entire weight on nothing but their index fingers.
Sweat cascaded down their foreheads, soaking the ground beneath them, and their arms trembled visibly; they had clearly reached their limits.
"Nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety!"
Son Goku gritted his teeth, his voice raspy as he shouted the count.
His face was flushed a deep red, and every time he pushed his body upward, it felt as though he were wrestling with a mountain.
A stubborn smirk tugged at the corner of Vegeta's mouth, his pace slightly faster than Son Goku's:
"Nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety! Just one more to go!"
"Son Goku! This time, I will definitely surpass you!"
The two had already completed tens of thousands of handstand push-ups, drenched in sweat, yet they gritted their teeth and persisted, neither willing to admit defeat.
On a patch of open ground not far away, an exquisite stone table was set up.
Whis and Lin Fan sat leisurely on stone stools, sipping steaming tea.
Watching the two competing in the field, Whis shook his head gently:
"Such energetic individuals, truly."
"However, this level of training is already becoming insufficient for them."
Lin Fan lifted his teacup, took a sip, and said with a smile:
"This is only the beginning."
"Once they adapt to the weight of these gravity suits, I will provide them with even more difficult training regimens."
Just then.
BOOM!
A thunderous roar suddenly descended from the sky.
A figure plummeted from the high altitude like a meteorite, slamming heavily into the ground and kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
A terrifying shockwave rippled outward, causing Son Goku and Vegeta, who were in the middle of their contest, to shudder violently and lose their balance, crashing hard to the ground.
"Damn it!"
Vegeta scrambled up from the ground, glaring at the dust-filled area with a livid expression.
"I was only one away! I was about to do ten more than Son Goku!"
"It's all the fault of this guy who suddenly dropped in!"
Son Goku rubbed his aching arms and grinned:
"Haha, Vegeta, that just goes to show your luck is bad!"
A flash of purple light flickered as Beerus slowly materialized in the air.
With his hands on his hips, he looked down at Son Gohan on the ground, his tone dripping with mockery:
"What a fragile body!"
"I didn't even use one percent of my power, and you couldn't hold on?"
"How could someone like you ever become the substitute God of Destruction for Universe 7?"
From within the dust, a powerful aura suddenly erupted!
A golden flame of energy soared into the sky, scattering the surrounding dust.
Son Gohan slowly stood up; his hair had turned a dazzling gold, and he was surrounded by violent air currents—it was the Super Saiyan 2 form!
"Lord Beerus!"
Son Gohan's gaze was incredibly resolute as he bowed deeply to Beerus:
"My strength is still far from enough!"
"Please continue to guide my training!"
"I can still keep going!"
Before the words had even faded, Son Gohan's aura surged once more.
He kicked off the ground with all his might, shooting toward Beerus like an arrow released from a bow.
His fist was clenched tight, whistling through the air as he smashed it toward Beerus's face!
Beerus raised an eyebrow, a trace of disdain appearing on his face.
Just as Son Gohan's fist was about to make contact.
BOOM!
An even louder crashing sound suddenly echoed from the distance.
The entire God of Destruction Realm trembled slightly from the impact.
Beerus's attention was instantly drawn over.
Son Gohan's fist could no longer be pulled back, landing solidly on Beerus's face.
Yet, that punch hitting Beerus's face felt like striking a ball of cotton, having absolutely no effect.
Son Gohan's face turned deathly pale in an instant; he hurriedly retracted his fist and bowed repeatedly toward Beerus:
"I'm sorry! Lord Beerus! I didn't mean to!"
Whis and Lin Fan exchanged a glance, both seeing a look of realization in the other's eyes.
Lin Fan set down his teacup and said with a smile:
"It seems we have guests."
Whis nodded:
"And they are old acquaintances of ours, at that."
The smoke at the landing site slowly dissipated.
Two figures appeared within everyone's line of sight.
One of them was short and stout, wearing the same God of Destruction uniform as Beerus; it was none other than Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6.
Standing behind him was a tall, exquisitely beautiful woman—Vados, the Angel of Universe 6.
Vados looked at the destroyed ground around them, shook her head helplessly, and remarked with a hint of sarcasm:
"Lord Champa, there really was no need to make such a scene."
"As a God of Destruction, your entrance should be a bit more elegant."
Champa put his hands on his hips and said triumphantly:
"Elegant? What's that?"
"When the protagonist makes an entrance, it naturally has to be grand!"
"I can already imagine the scene of that guy Beerus suffering a crushing defeat, kneeling on the ground and begging for my forgiveness!"
Seeing Champa, Beerus's expression instantly turned gloomy.
He let out a cold snort and demanded angrily:
"Champa! You guy, what are you doing in my Universe 7?"
Champa chuckled, his face full of provocation:
"What? Not welcoming me?"
"I just wanted to come and see how my dear brother has been doing lately."
Beerus's fists clenched instantly, and a terrifying aura radiated from his body.
Seeing that the two were about to fight, Whis quickly gave Beerus a meaningful look.
Gods of Destruction were not allowed to fight at will; that was the rule of the universe.
Beerus took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the rage in his heart.
Lin Fan watched this scene unfold, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
He remembered very clearly that this pair of brothers, Beerus and Champa, held a special competition every year.
The memory of this also surfaced in Beerus's mind.
He and Champa held a food competition every year.
Both sides would bring out a delicacy from their own universe, and the two would taste them together, with the more delicious one winning.
In all previous competitions, Beerus had never lost.
Looking at the confident Champa before him, Beerus was filled with disdain.
He had Earth, the "Planet of Delicacies"!
The food on Earth was vast in variety, and its taste could be called the best in the universe!
No matter what food Champa brought out, it was impossible for it to surpass the delicacies of Earth!
