Background / History

Beerus encountered Lin Fan after the Saiyan Progenitor’s rapidly growing aura attracted both him and Whis. The two fought fiercely and became friends through battle, though Lin Fan surpassed Beerus within three years and eventually began sparring with Whis instead. Beerus remained on the God of Destruction Realm, frequently frustrated by the collateral damage from their clashes. 1

After Lin Fan confirms that Beerus’s prophetic dream concerning a Super Saiyan God is genuine, Beerus becomes determined to find and challenge the being. Whis locates Earth, and Beerus travels there with Whis and Lin Fan. 2 3

On Earth, Beerus learns that the Super Saiyan God must be created through a ritual. Once Son Goku achieves the form, Beerus recognizes him as the figure from his dream and tests his strength in battle.
