Background / History

Tsunade traveled alone from Konohagakure to the Land of Whirlpools during Kirigakure’s invasion. She acted in place of her grandmother, Mito Uzumaki, who could not leave Konoha because of her position as the Nine-Tails’ jinchūriki. Before Tsunade departed, Mito required her to master Creation Rebirth and Slug Reverse Summoning for self-protection 5.

Although Uzumaki Shori initially assigned her to rear-line medical duty, Tsunade rejected the restriction and challenged him to a spar. After displaying Strength of a Hundred, Chakra Scalpel, and Heavenly Foot of Pain, she earned Shori’s recognition as a frontline asset despite losing the contest in stamina and raw force 5 6.

Tsunade arrives as Uzushio faces Kirigakure’s invasion, initially serving as its principal medical support. After sparring Shori, she is accepted as a frontline fighter and treats Ashina, helping restore Uzushio’s leadership before the decisive conflict 5 6 8.

During the Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals battle, she joins Orochimaru and Ashina against Minazuki Junhyo. She is injured by an explosive attack, heals herself through Creation Rebirth, and creates the opening for Orochimaru’s final ambush 24 25.

Konoha Medical-Camp Siege

While stationed with Konoha’s medical forces, Tsunade protects wounded shinobi from Chiyo Junichi and Sunagakure. She withstands the Chikamatsu Ten Puppets, uses Yin Seal: Release to recover, and later breaks through the siege with Shori’s intervention 61 64 66.
