Background

Founding-era conflict

Madara helped Senju Hashirama end the Warring States Period and establish Konohagakure. Although he was initially one of the village's highest decision-makers, he came to believe that the Senju had monopolized administration and reduced the Uchiha to obedience rather than equal partners. 83

Yoru's sudden appearance intensified Madara's distrust. Madara reported the unknown Uchiha to Hashirama, but Tobirama's immediate suspicion of the Uchiha convinced him that neither the village nor his own clan would stand beside him. He left Konoha after promising Hashirama that he would regret his decision. 84

Madara returned atop a Nine-Tails he had subdued with his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, framing the assault on Konoha as a test of whether absolute strength could overcome Hashirama's ideals and unite the Ninja World. After his battle with Hashirama, Yoru intervened, healed his fatal injuries, and awakened his Rinnegan with Ashura's chakra. 85 87

Revival and allegiance to Yoru

In the primary timeline, Black Zetsu uses Nagato's body to revive Madara. Madara initially treats Yoru as a rival worthy of battle, attacking with Perfect Susanoo, Fire Style, Chibaku Tensei, and Limbo. Yoru repels every assault and exposes Black Zetsu's plan to use the Infinite Tsukuyomi to revive Kaguya. 44 45 46 47

Once he understands that Black Zetsu manipulated him, Madara abandons the Eye of the Moon Plan and pledges himself to Yoru's banner. His loyalty remains conditional: he promises to oppose Yoru if Yoru abandons his stated purpose of preventing the Ninja World from falling into ruin. 47

Madara becomes Yoru's advisor within Akatsuki and later Konoha, participating in the war against the Allied Shinobi Forces and the annexation of Sunagakure and Iwagakure. 50 56 59 60

Ten-Tails and divine unification

Madara supports Yoru's Tailed Beast collection campaign and accepts Yoru's trust to become the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki. He vows to protect Yoru's ideals and help forge a new future even against the entire world. 63 69

Personality

Madara is intensely proud, contemptuous of weakness, and exhilarated by opponents capable of challenging him. Even when Yoru overwhelms him, Madara responds with greater fighting spirit rather than fear. 45 46

He believes lasting peace requires overwhelming strength and control, a conviction that drives both his break with Hashirama and his conquest campaigns.
