Background & History

Izumi lived near Uchiha Arashi while he was growing up without parents. Though Arashi called himself her younger brother and was only one year younger, she privately regarded him as one; she had helped care for him when the clan's nominal support proved insufficient. Before the massacre, she saw him as an unambitious, physically weak novelist who had never awakened the Sharingan. 2

On the night of the Uchiha clan massacre, Obito cornered Izumi and recognized her three-tomoe Sharingan. Arashi intervened, cut her free, and transported her into the Shadow Space. There, he told her that Itachi was killing the clan. Izumi initially could not accept this, particularly because she had admired Itachi, but ultimately accepted that he had murdered her mother and the other Uchiha. 1 2 4

Arashi entrusted the rescued children to Izumi's care. While the survivors remained hidden, she soothed them, taught literacy and ninjutsu, and helped recover the clan's remaining resources. After seeing Sasuke, she rejected the idea of seeking answers from him and resolved to personally avenge the clan rather than preserve her feelings for Itachi. 2 5 7

After accepting Arashi's Eye of God, Izumi became instrumental in expanding and reinforcing the Shadow Space. When Obito attacked again, she used Yomotsu Hirasaka to relocate the group, then awakened the Eye of God's lightning power to intercept an attack aimed at Arashi. 10 12

Izumi later fought Konoha's pursuing Anbu in the Land of Rain. Using Yomotsu Hirasaka and Life Thread, she trapped and killed multiple pursuers before Arashi's group eliminated the rest of the force. 34 35

Izumi is protective and responsible, quickly becoming the emotional anchor and instructor for the younger Uchiha survivors. She prioritizes their education, food, safety, and combat training even while processing the destruction of her clan. 5 6 7
