Chen Ming began as a C-Rank Shield Guard whose teammates possessed greater apparent potential. Rather than disband the Morning Light Squad, he resolved to let its members choose whether to remain, showing confidence in his own path despite his low-ranked class 2. Jiang Yi and Song Chuan subsequently attempted to pressure him into relinquishing the captaincy, but Chen Ming dismissed them from the temporary squad without compromise 3 4.

During the Grand Exam, he solo-grinded in the wilderness and rapidly reached Level 3 on the first day. His results initially led others to assume Qin Zhixue had carried him, but Grand Exam records confirmed that he had independently hunted high-level beasts in the Level One Beast Forest 13 25. He ultimately became a widely recognized prodigy after displaying extraordinary defense and awakening an SSS-Rank mental skill during the border selection test 39 43 44.

Chen Ming is self-assured, direct, and highly independent. He is willing to solo dangerous areas and routinely rejects unnecessary assistance, confident that his defense and recovery can sustain him 6 68.

His combat style is reckless by conventional standards: he often allows enemies to attack him in order to build stacking damage before retaliating decisively. Despite this, he is pragmatic rather than careless, selecting stronger prey for efficient experience, rationing his level growth to meet dungeon requirements, and negotiating to preserve ownership of valuable resources 7 156 212 130.

He is also generous toward his squad. Before their awakenings, he distributed rare elemental and pure-energy resources to Qin Zhixue, Sun Yang, and Lin Wei as a captain’s benefit 108. He later gave Gu Feng’s team a ninth-level passage token and 100,000 Merit Points after their status improved through their association with him 427.

Chen Ming possesses a firm personal sense of fairness.
