Background

A Ten-Tails Jinchuriki is someone who seals the Ten-Tails within their body. Black Zetsu teaches Nagato that the Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal can accomplish this and describes the resulting transformation as a way to gain the power of the Sage of Six Paths 77.

Akatsuki collects Tailed Beast chakra to revive the Ten-Tails. Its revived beast is incomplete because much of the chakra of several Tailed Beasts—particularly the Nine-Tails—is missing 217 218. When Nagato and Uchiha Hikari simultaneously seal it, its power divides between them instead of producing a single host 223 224.

Appearance

The transformation varies by host 223 242 277.

• Nagato — Gains a white cloak and six floating spheres after the initial sealing; his later enhanced form has nine Truth-Seeking Orbs and a six-tomoe Rinne Sharingan on his forehead 223 242.
• Uchiha Hikari — Gains a silver-white chakra cloak and three floating spheres 223.
• Jigen — Shows no change in appearance after sealing his Ten-Tails, apart from regrowing his lost arm 277.

Hosting the Ten-Tails produces a major increase in chakra and combat power 77 198.

• Nagato's reserves sustain a regenerating True Several Thousand Hands through a prolonged battle against Tsunade, Fugaku, and Shisui 231.
• Both Nagato and Hikari can float and wield Truth-Seeking Orbs after becoming hosts 223 224 228.
• A host's strength depends on the condition and amount of Ten-Tails power obtained: Hikari receives less than Nagato, and Akira's group expects their incomplete Ten-Tails to produce a weaker host than a complete one 218 224.

Regeneration and endurance

The Ten-Tails grants its host exceptional recovery, but does not make them impossible to restrain 234 239 277.

• Nagato survives catastrophic injuries; Jigen's Black Receivers nevertheless suppress his chakra flow and restrict his regeneration 237 239.
• Jigen regrows an arm upon sealing a Ten-Tails and can sustain Karma Stage Two for longer 277.
• Nagato loses his host form when Hikari, Tsunade, Fugaku, and Shisui forcibly extract the Ten-Tails 253 254.

Infinite Tsukuyomi

• Nagato refuses Black Zetsu's suggestion to use it to restore the incomplete Ten-Tails 226.
• Madara uses it to gather chakra from living beings and restore the Ten-Tails within him 259 260.
