Background

The Breaking Clan was formerly one of the Clear Sky Sect's four single-attribute affiliated clans. When Martial Soul Hall attacked the Clear Sky Sect, the sect abandoned the Strength, Breaking, Agility, and Defense Clans and sealed its gates. The Breaking Clan resisted most fiercely and suffered the heaviest losses, with over half its members killed or injured. It later fled to a border city in the Star Luo Empire and survived through selling refined medicine 53.

Yang Wudi became clan head under the shadow of that betrayal. He and the entire Breaking Clan swore never again to become another faction's vassals, a conviction he defended even against the Title Douluo Dugu Bo 61.

Personality

Yang Wudi is solitary, arrogant, direct, and fiercely proud. Before meeting Xing Tian, he cared above all for strengthening the Soul Breaking Spear and advancing the Breaking Clan's pharmaceutical arts 53.

His pride is rooted in both personal mastery and responsibility for his clan. Although he suppresses his temper when necessary to avoid further endangering the Breaking Clan, he refuses to sacrifice its independence or dignity 61.

After Xing Tian defeats the clan in spear techniques and poison arts, Yang Wudi's competitiveness becomes reverence and loyalty. Breaking Clan Recruitment

Dugu Bo and Xing Tian approach the Breaking Clan seeking its Herb Catalog and allegiance. Yang Wudi refuses outright, invoking the Clear Sky Sect's abandonment and the clan's vow never to serve another faction 61.

He accepts Xing Tian's wager: a contest of spear techniques and poison crafting. Xing Tian's ability to resist all poisons and his superior poison arts shake Yang Wudi's confidence, while the defeat of Yang Lie reflects the defeat of Yang Wudi's own spear teachings 62 63 66 70.

Yang Wudi ultimately submits the entire Breaking Clan to Xing Tian, calling submission to such a powerhouse an honor rather than humiliation 70.

Ice Fire Yin Yang Well

Xing Tian rewards Yang Wudi with the Aromatic Silk Beauty and later entrusts him with the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well and the Poison Canon 71 87.

Yang Wudi guards Xing Tian through a three-year closed-door cultivation period. His own insight into the spear path culminates in the Soul Breaking Spear Intent and a breakthrough to level 80 94.

Black-Veined Blood Spider Empress Hunt

After reaching level 80, Yang Wudi accompanies Xing Tian into the Star Dou Forest to hunt the Black-Veined Blood Spider Empress. He executes Xing Tian's plan and kills the more-than-fifty-thousand-year soul beast with the fifth form of the Charge Spear Technique, Sweep Across the World 95.

He absorbs its Soul Ring and left leg Soul Bone, becoming a level-82 Soul Douluo and gaining Blood God Possession 96.

Battle Against the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger

Yang Wudi joins Xing Tian, Qian Renxue, and She Long against the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger. Despite initial hatred upon recognizing Qian Renxue's Six-Winged Angel martial soul as tied to Spirit Hall, he restrains himself and fights with the group 99 101.

He employs poison, his Martial Soul Avatar, Blood God Possession, and his Eighth Soul Skill, Annihilate. His enhanced attack helps shatter the tiger's Evil God Protection, but the Soul Bone skill leaves him critically depleted afterward 102 103 106 107.

Service Under Xing Tian

Yang Wudi remains an active lieutenant in Xing Tian's forces. He is tasked with contacting the Defense Clan after the Ye Mansion is attacked, persuades Niu Gao to consider joining Xing Tian, advises on the Purple Imperial Bamboo Family's defenses, and receives delegated responsibilities during Xing Tian's campaigns 335 342 346 348.
