Background / History

Thunder Hell Vine began as the seemingly ordinary Pseudo-Thunder-Clap Grass, an unawakened martial soul that left Lin Mo with only Level 3 Innate Soul Power. Lin Mo deliberately drew down heavenly lightning during a storm, completing its secondary awakening and raising his aptitude to Innate Full Soul Power. 1

Its awakened form was powerful enough to attract Yu Xiaogang's suspicion almost immediately. Yu Xiaogang recognized that the martial soul recorded as Thunder-Clap Grass could not explain its ability to absorb thunder, while Lin Mo chose to conceal its true nature whenever possible. 1 12

At Plant Academy, Lin Mo maintained the Thunder-Clap Grass cover identity because Thunder Hell Vine could pass as a lightning-attributed vine martial soul. This allowed him to cultivate by devouring lightning without drawing the scrutiny that he expected at Thunder Academy. 12

The martial soul repeatedly demonstrated overwhelming superiority against other plant types. It suppressed Tang San's Blue Silver Grass at the Nuoding Martial Soul Hall, destroyed Zhou Hang's Green Wood Vine and severed its connection to its wielder, and later pressured Supervisor Yu Yuan's Ghost Vine. 11 20 116

Lin Mo eventually obtained a fourth ring from a 14,000-year Thunder Hell Vine soul beast in the Star Dou Great Forest. The donor shared the same origin as his martial soul and was assessed as 100% compatible, though the absorption still carried a risk of fatal backlash. 129 130 131

Thunder Hell Vine manifests as a dark-purple vine covered in violet-gold electrical arcs. Its main body and roots can emerge from Lin Mo's palm, the ground, or across a wide battlefield. 6 23 87
