Background / History

The Thunder Hell Vine initially appeared to be an ordinary Thunder-Clap Grass Martial Soul with only faint electrical arcs. During a thunderstorm, it stretched toward the sky and absorbed stray lightning as though starved, completing a secondary awakening into its true form. The awakening transformed Lin Mo's weak Level 3 Innate Soul Power into Innate Full Soul Power and established its defining ability to feed on thunder. 1

Its nature combines plant and lightning attributes. Although lightning is its auxiliary attribute, its foundation remains that of a vine-type plant Martial Soul; Lin Mo later considers strengthening its plant essence and vine toughness as important as seeking lightning-attribute soul rings. 12 62

At Plant Academy, Lin Mo concealed the Martial Soul's true identity by presenting it as Thunder-Clap Grass, an ordinary vine Martial Soul with a slight lightning attribute. This allowed him to train in secret, using Weather Manipulation to create thunderstorms and draw down lightning for cultivation. 12 23

After joining Martial Soul Academy, Lin Mo openly identified the Thunder Hell Vine during his entrance assessment. Its plant nature and lightning attribute impressed Plant Sanctuary supervisor Yu Yuan, who offered him access to the sanctuary's resources. For his fourth ring, Lin Mo encountered a living Thunder Hell Vine in the Star Dou Great Forest. The 14,000-year soul beast absorbed heavenly lightning much as his Martial Soul did, and the system identified their compatibility as 100 percent. With Bibi Dong's permission, Yue Guan and Gui Mei subdued it, and Lin Mo dealt the finishing blow before absorbing its ring. Bibi Dong later awarded him the right-leg soul bone found at its roots. Its effects include stronger lightning, an increase to all attributes, freer control of lightning power, autonomous vine assistance within a designated area, and the ability to concentrate lightning in his eyes and release it at a target. The lightning wings visible during his demonstration were identified as his existing External Soul Bone rather than a separate effect of the skill. 129 130 131

After Lin Mo absorbed the matching right-leg soul bone's Origin Essence into the Martial Soul and fourth ring, Thunderous Divine Form became more powerful while consuming less Soul Power. 139
