Background / History
At the academy's reopening, Takeshi reunites with his friend Uchiha Matsuzaki. He is immediately protective of Matsuzaki when Uchiha Kawazo and his companions threaten him, though Matsuzaki remains calmer than Takeshi expects. 14 15
Takeshi openly states that he wants to join the Anbu because of its reputation for elite shinobi. He ultimately achieves that ambition, receiving an Anbu support assignment in Matsuzaki's team and eagerly returning home to share the news with his parents. 32 47 51
Under Matsuzaki's guidance, Takeshi trains alongside Chestnut Snow, Flower Dance, and Spirit Grass. His tendency to overlook opponents is exposed during a sparring exercise, but he accepts Matsuzaki's harsher training despite complaining about it. 55
Before an overseas mission, Matsuzaki equips Takeshi with a custom heavy sword tailored for close-range fighting. Over the following year, the team undertakes numerous missions and improves enough that each member can face formidable enemies alone. 99 255
During the later monster war, Takeshi proves willing to put himself in danger for his teammates. He shields Chestnut Snow from a surprise attack, suffering a severe abdominal wound; he survives after treatment and remains determined not to burden the team. 444 445
Personality
Takeshi is notably sunny, enthusiastic, and optimistic. He becomes excited about school, the prospect of becoming Anbu, traveling beyond his home, and even the possibility of going home after a difficult mission. 14 51 128 199
He can be insecure about his progress, particularly when he believes the others have surpassed him. Matsuzaki's encouragement helps him refocus on steady training rather than comparing himself to his teammates. 75
Though he talks boldly about being a man and facing danger, Takeshi can panic around monsters and snakes. His bravery is genuine nonetheless: he stands between danger and the girls during the first monster encounter, and later sacrifices his own safety to protect Snow. 28 31 350 444
Takeshi is also carefree to a fault. He frequently falls asleep during missions, is highly motivated by food, and is prone to carelessness in combat. 55 414 436
