Wang Dong entered Shrek Academy disguised as a boy and became Long Yaochen's roommate in the dilapidated Dormitory 108. Used to the comfort of the Clear Sky Sect, she was immediately appalled by the room's condition and initially tried to impose rules on him. 10 11

Her first encounter with Long Yaochen ended with him using his light-based Mark of Sun Chasing on her. Her Radiant Goddess Butterfly martial soul manifested in response, while the sea-blue trident mark on her forehead resisted the influence before being suppressed by Long Yaochen's Prayer Light. When she recovered, she discovered that she had cleaned the entire dormitory and had advanced from rank 24 to rank 25. 11 12

Though furious over the humiliation, Wang Dong remained Long Yaochen's roommate. She repeatedly sought the beneficial cultivation effect associated with his technique while denying that she cared about him, and her hostility gradually became playful bickering and jealousy over his closeness with Ma Xiaotao and Zhang Lexuan. 13 24 48 49

During the Freshman Assessment, Wang Dong teamed with Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao. Her speed, winged martial soul, and cooperation with Huo Yuhao's Spirit Detection Sharing made her the most conspicuous attacker on the team, but she became increasingly uncomfortable with Huo Yuhao's ruthless tactics. 29 She was later defeated alongside Xiao Xiao when Long Yaochen challenged their team alone. 34

After returning to the Clear Sky Sect during a school break, Wang Dong became a Soul Elder but was confined when Niu Tian revealed that the protective mark left by her father had weakened. Long Yaochen eventually came to the Clear Sky Sect with Mu En and Long Xiaoyao to bring her back. 61 74 75

Wang Dong returned to Shrek in feminine attire and formally began using the name Wang Dong'er. Her classmates recognized her despite the change, and Long Yaochen explained that she had previously concealed her identity due to special circumstances. 78

During the Continental Tournament, the emotional shock of Long Yaochen shielding her from an assassination attempt cracked her restrictive mark and brought back fragments of her suppressed memories. In a subsequent dream, a blue-gold figure called her Xiao Qi, identified himself as her father, and assigned her an unknown mission. 117 125

After Shrek's tournament victory, Wang Dong'er pressed Long Yaochen for the truth behind her memories and identity. He eventually confirmed that Tang San was her biological father, though he refused to decide the meaning of her lost past for her. Following a later period of seclusion, Wang Dong'er returned to Dormitory 108 at rank 39. She had recovered additional memories, including memories connected to her mother and impressions seemingly related to Long Yaochen's past life, which initially made her reluctant to face him. 189

Wang Dong'er's Sea God or Trident Mark later vanished completely without restoring all of her memories. Long Yaochen confirmed that her Sea of Spirit was unobstructed, but neither of them understood why the mark had disappeared. He suggested returning to the Clear Sky Sect for an examination, while reassuring her that he would bring her back if the sect detained her. After the mark's disappearance, Wang Dong'er chose to live more normally rather than obsess over her incomplete memories. Wang Dong'er later experienced a much clearer recovered memory of her childhood in the divine realm. In the vision, she was called Tang Wutong, remembered a blue-haired father and a mother with a scorpion-tail braid, and learned that her descent to the mortal world may have been part of her father's long-term plan. Although she recognized the people in the vision as her true parents, she rejected the name Tang Wutong and insisted that she was Wang Dong'er. 243

When she sought Long Yaochen for an explanation, she unexpectedly saw him kissing Ma Xiaotao and reacted with shock, embarrassment, and jealousy. Long Yaochen followed her to Sea God Lake, where he confirmed that the memories were genuine: Tang Wutong was her true name, and the figures in the vision were truly her parents. Despite often denying it, she is deeply attached to Long Yaochen. His absence, relationship with Ma Xiaotao, and apparent indifference all provoke jealousy or insecurity; she later admits that her confinement at Clear Sky Sect left her wondering whether they would ever meet again. 49 74 80

Wang Dong'er also becomes more assertive after returning to Shrek as herself. She uses feigned vulnerability to make Long Yaochen explain the truth about her mark, then openly celebrates when the tactic succeeds. 80
