Gu Yue first contacts Yu Tianshuo by projecting her consciousness through Na'er. Within his sea of consciousness, she investigates why he possesses the powers of three Dragon Kings and how he injured Di Tian. Although initially doubtful of his claim to originate from another Dragon God Realm, she comes to believe him after witnessing the abnormal combination of Dragon King and divine powers he has absorbed. 41 76

Her first proposal to Yu Tianshuo is conditional: she offers assistance toward achieving the Dragon God only after he completely absorbs the Golden Dragon King's power. Privately, she intends to become the Dragon God herself, making her early dealings with him calculating and manipulative. 41 42

When Yu Tianshuo later arrives near the Lake of Life, Gu Yue initially suspects he may be the Golden Dragon King in disguise.
