I Have a Dream

"Lady Tsunade, was the Third Hokage trying to kill me?" Obito asked after lying down once they were inside.

Tsunade fell silent. The conflict between the Uchiha Clan and the village leadership had existed since the village was founded. But the First Hokage had won everyone's trust with his strength and charisma, even the members of the clan who hadn't left with Uchiha Madara.

By the time of the Second Hokage, Tobirama had little regard for the Uchiha Clan. He had conducted extensive research on them, including human experimentation! He believed the Sharingan was an evil power and that the Uchiha were born evil. His suspicions of the clan had moved from the shadows into the open.

By the time of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Konoha High Command had shifted from strategically containing the Uchiha Clan to strategically eliminating them! They were determined to wipe out the Uchiha Clan, but the Third Hokage hesitated, waiting for the right opportunity because he feared a conflict would weaken Konoha. "Lady Tsunade, do you have a dream?" Obito asked.

"A dream? Of course I do. When I was little, I dreamed of following in my grandfather's footsteps. Later, I dreamed of finding my Prince Charming. Now I just want to travel and see all the different sights this world has to offer—things beyond ninjas and war." Tsunade sat on the floor, arms wrapped around her knees as she gazed into the distance.

"Hmm, looks like our dreams have something in common," Obito said, staring at the ceiling.

"Oh? What's your dream, kid?" Tsunade turned to look at Lu Ming.

"Me? I want to create a world without war. A world where children can spend every day with their parents, wake up to a breakfast their mother made, then happily go off to school.

"Adults can stay by the sides of the people they love, working hard together, getting married, and raising children. The elderly can have their children and grandchildren with them every day and enjoy their twilight years in peace. Nations will no longer see each other as enemies. The whole world will be united!" Obito said earnestly.

"The whole world will be united?" Tsunade asked, puzzled.

"Right. The nations and people of the entire world will share a common goal. Everyone can set aside their old grudges and hostility, unite, and work toward that goal together! That's what it means for the whole world to be united."

Obito's words struck Tsunade deeply. In the Naruto World, people were deeply entrenched in the system of one village per nation. How could generations of hatred be set aside so easily? Every village had blood on its hands from fighting the others! The whole world united... This kid really dared to dream.

"Then you must want to become Hokage, right?" Tsunade asked.

"No! I don't want to become Hokage. One village, one Kage won't change the world! The hatred between ninjas will never disappear. I want to become the person who changes the world!"

"You..." Tsunade was so stunned she didn't know what to say. This kid, who followed her around every day drinking and gambling, wanted to become the person who changed the world? Even her grandfather, the First Hokage, hadn't managed that!

"Heh, don't believe me, Lady Tsunade? A dream is something you spend your whole life striving toward! If you can achieve it easily, it isn't a dream." Obito grinned.

"True. Then I'll be watching to see how you make your dream come true!" Tsunade said, her voice unusually gentle.

"Great! It's a promise, then. If I can do it, will you agree to date me, Lady Tsunade?"

"Haha, sure. It's a deal. I'll be waiting for that day. If you do it, I'll say yes. All right, you're still injured. Go to sleep." In the dim room, Tsunade's flushed face was hidden from view... Could this kid have been interested in her since a year ago, and only approached her on purpose?

For some reason, while treating his wounds, she had seen Dan in Obito's face. She realized her feelings toward the kid had changed. It wasn't that she had suddenly fallen in love with Obito; it was more like a bond between their hearts. Tsunade tucked Obito in, then left the room.

Bang! Tsunade kicked the door to the Hokage's office open! It shattered into pieces and scattered across the room.

The Third Hokage was still smoking his pipe and reviewing documents. He had heard Tsunade approaching before she even reached the door.

"Why did you do it?" Tsunade planted both hands on the Hokage's desk and demanded loudly.

"Why did I do what? Is this how I taught you to behave? It's the middle of the night. Why aren't you asleep? Why are you here throwing a tantrum? Lose at gambling again, or are you drunk?" The Third Hokage looked up.

"Hm? So it wasn't you who sent someone to assassinate Obito at my house? Then it must have been that old bastard Danzo!" The Third Hokage's reply seemed to give Tsunade the answer she had wanted most. The weight in her heart lifted. Her teacher still had a moral compass...

"Danzo sent someone to assassinate him?" Tsunade's words startled the Third Hokage too. Danzo was getting more and more careless! It seemed he still hadn't understood what I meant when I told him to do his job properly! Foolish Danzo. With brains like yours, you'll never become Hokage!

"Just now. You old geezer, I don't care what you do the rest of the time, but don't lay a hand on anyone close to me again! If anything like what happened to Dan happens again, I absolutely, absolutely won't forgive you!" Tsunade warned the Third Hokage sternly, then left.

The Third Hokage watched Tsunade leave, his expression calm. He only kept puffing on his pipe, one breath after another. Before long, thick smoke shrouded his face. No one knew what he was thinking.
