History

Betrayal of Isshiki and Manji

Kaguya arrived on Earth with Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and was designated as the sacrifice for the God Tree. Refusing that fate, she approached Manji with an offer: help her ambush Isshiki, and she would share the Chakra Fruit and protect the world with him 1 17.

After Manji helped her sacrifice Isshiki to the Ten-Tails, Kaguya attacked him with the All-Killing Ash Bones rather than honor their bargain. She consumed the Chakra Fruit herself, became the Rabbit Goddess, and used Infinite Tsukuyomi on the world 6 17.

Rule and Motherhood

Kaguya selectively released people from Infinite Tsukuyomi, while periodically sending sacrifices to the God Tree to create White Zetsu defenders against future Ōtsutsuki retaliation 13 17. She gave birth to Hagoromo and Hamura and initially spoke of ruling the land with her children 9.

Although she privately described Manji as the world's bravest hero and her benefactor when telling stories to her sons, she concealed her betrayal of him and the atrocities beneath the God Tree 12 13.

Conflict with Hagoromo and Hamura

When her sons learned of the sacrifices and Manji's betrayal, Kaguya refused to abandon the God Tree. She used her superior Byakugan to seize control of Hamura and forced him to fight Hagoromo 19 20.

Kaguya ultimately fought Manji, Hagoromo, and Hamura after summoning the Ten-Tails. Hagoromo and Hamura sealed her with Chibaku Tensei, while Manji prevented Black Zetsu from escaping to continue her plans 22 23.

Resurrection and Life at Mount Myōboku

Manji later retrieved Kaguya's soul through the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and Black Zetsu's origin power, reconstructing her as an ordinary mortal woman 118. He compelled her assistance in locating Karasuki and other Ōtsutsuki space-time resources, while keeping her under close watch due to her past betrayal 119 130.

Over time, Kaguya remained on Longevity Peak. She grew interested in modern clothing, cosmetics, music, and other unfamiliar comforts, showing a more ordinary side of herself 123 124 151. She also welcomed Uchiha Hikari into her home, gave her back her name, and asked her to call her “sister” 156.

Final Conflict of the First Cycle

Kaguya later attempted to return through Nagato as the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki. After partially resurrecting and casting Infinite Tsukuyomi, she turned on Hikari and sought to reclaim the mortal world 338 342.

Her attacks, including the Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack and Amenominaka, proved ineffective against Manji. He killed her with Six Paths: Planetary Devastation, then dispelled Infinite Tsukuyomi 343.

Later Cycle

In a later cycle, Kaguya again consumed the Chakra Fruit and used Infinite Tsukuyomi after sacrificing Isshiki and Qianji to the Ten-Tails 355 356. She had a child by the Emperor of the Land of Ancestors and intended to preserve the child as a potential source of support against the Ōtsutsuki clan 356.

Her conflict with Hagoromo eventually resumed after he learned the truth of the God Tree. Hagoromo sealed Kaguya and the Ten-Tails by himself with Six Paths: Planetary Devastation 363 367.

Kaguya is a tall, ethereally beautiful woman with snow-white skin and extremely long silver-white hair. In her restored mortal state, the pressure and otherworldly features of her former Ten-Tails jinchūriki form are absent 118.

Personality

Kaguya is driven foremost by survival, power, and fear of Ōtsutsuki retribution. Her refusal to become a sacrifice led her to betray both Isshiki and Manji, seize the Chakra Fruit, and cultivate White Zetsu through human sacrifices 17 356. She regards ordinary humans as short-lived “ants” and initially sees the Tailed Beasts as fragments of chakra rather than independent beings 21 152.

Her conduct is also marked by remorse and insecurity. She regrets betraying Manji, accepts that he has reason to resent her, and is willing to be used by him so long as he does not abandon her 92 119 124. Her attachment to Manji can become possessive and destructive; after learning that he and Tsunade became a couple, she considered imprisoning him and killing Tsunade 246.

Kaguya can display warmth toward those she chooses to protect. She showed patience and compassion toward Hikari, condemned the Uchiha clan's treatment of her, and gave the formerly “Nameless” girl a home and identity 156.
