Background / History

Ling Ji is Ling Qing's nephew. As a child, he eagerly asked Ling Qing to teach him how to fly, prompting Ling Qing and Great-Grandfather to consider whether he possessed the disposition for cultivation 108. He began by memorizing the Morning and Evening Lesson Scripture, practicing the Five Animal Frolics, and completing temple chores such as carrying water and chopping wood while still attending school 110 115 120.

Ling Qing initially treated him as a temple acolyte rather than a formal disciple, intending to test whether his temperament and desire for the Dao would remain steady as he matured 115 120. During an early accidental entry into an Instance with Wei Wenjun, Ling Ji cultivated true qi and learned to wield Wild Spirit Artifacts; together, the two evaded and taunted their pursuers while exploring the unfamiliar world 312.

He later became one of Ling Qing's formal disciples alongside Wenjun and Sun Yuwei. By then, he had advanced to Human Immortalhood and received cultivation resources suited to the Myriad Beast path 536.

His concern for his junior sister does not prevent him from using harsh methods, though he restrains himself from needless killing because Ling Qing dislikes taking lives 472.

During a sea storm, he stood on deck striking against the wind and waves with his staff, using the storm's violence to contemplate the wildness of nature 430.
