Shen Yichen spent a century meditating within Taixu Temple's stone chamber on Tiandang Mountain. When he awakened, his accumulated worldly distractions and impurities manifested as a gray-white nine-tailed fox phantom before dispersing. Although his cultivation had reached Half-Step Great Dao, he recognized that his final barrier could not be overcome through seclusion alone. 1

Using divination, Shen identified Hu Liena as the final inheritor of the Qingqiu Fox Clan's bloodline. Knowing the tragic fate awaiting her and Martial Soul Hall under Tang San's rise, he chose to rewrite that outcome, protect the Qingqiu bloodline, and resolve the ancient covenant between the Fox Clan and the Celestial Master lineage. 1

He invoked the Heavenly Dao and Qingqiu ancestral bloodline power to create Twin Marriage Scrolls bearing his and Hu Liena's names. The resulting Purple Gold Marriage Contract publicly declared Hu Liena his chosen Dao Companion and promised eighteen layers of heaven-and-earth-condensed betrothal gifts. 1 3

After leaving his chamber, Shen met Taixu Temple attendant Ye Lingling, immediately recognized her cultivation defects, and gave her a White Jade Pendant. The pendant elevated her from level 32 to level 90 and bestowed a compatible hundred-thousand-year soul ring. 26 27

His protectiveness toward Hu Liena is central to his actions. Though his initial marriage declaration is forceful and public, he repeatedly sends her precisely timed treasures that strengthen her, defend her Divine Soul, suppress her enemies, and protect her from divine punishment.
