Background / History

Tang San originated as a disciple of a Tang Sect in another world. He stole the sect's forbidden inner techniques, leapt from a cliff, and arrived in the Douluo Continent with memories and techniques from his previous life, including the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Demon Eye, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and hidden-weapon knowledge. This past remained concealed until the Karma Jade exposed it publicly. 71 72

During the Eighth Sea God Trial on Sea God Island, Tang San sensed his cultivation slowing and his fortune being constrained immediately after Shen Yichen's Heavenly Dao Marriage Contract descended for Hu Liena. Bo Saixi warned him that the Celestial Master lineage was feared even by the God Realm and advised him not to provoke Shen Yichen. 5

The Fate-Suppressing Cauldron, Shen Yichen's second betrothal gift to Hu Liena, became the central obstacle to Tang San's path. It weakened his opportunities, cultivation efficiency, and schemes, causing him physical backlash during the Sea God Trials. 13 14 33

Personality

Tang San is fiercely self-assured and possesses an extreme belief that his destiny and advancement should belong to him alone. When his fortune is suppressed, this confidence becomes anger and a determination to defy anyone—including gods—who obstructs his path. 14 64

He is also capable of detailed planning and command, preparing an intelligence-based infiltration of Martial Soul City and later mobilizing the Tang Sect and two empires for war. However, repeated losses transform his determination into obsession: he becomes willing to kill Hu Liena, endanger civilians at Jialing Pass, and pursue revenge even after his divine position begins failing. 17 55 66 70
