At noon, Shin and Kushina left the Ninja Academy. Classes were over, and they prepared to head back for lunch.
"Shin, wait a second!"
Shin, who was walking along, heard Nawaki's shout. He stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at the boy running toward him.
"Shin, since you just arrived in Konoha, you aren't familiar with the place yet, right? Why don't I take you both around for a tour?" Nawaki suggested with great enthusiasm.
Shin thought about it; it was indeed necessary to get to know Konoha, and following Nawaki around wouldn't be a bad idea.
"Sure, that would be a bother, Nawaki."
"It's no trouble at all! Let's go, let's grab something to eat first. My treat, let's go get some ramen." Nawaki scratched his hair and said with a grin.
"Since you're taking the time to show us around Konoha, let me be the one to treat you," Shin replied.
Shin and Kushina still had quite a bit of money; during their time with the Uzumaki Clan, they had received a generous living allowance and had managed to save a significant amount.
"Well, in that case, I won't stand on ceremony."
Nawaki thought about how poor he was—it seemed his remaining pocket money wasn't even enough to cover a meal for others—so he didn't decline Shin's offer.
Don't let the fact that Nawaki was the "Crown Prince" of the Senju Clan fool you; he was genuinely broke. After all, with a sister who was such a spendthrift, he would never be rich in this lifetime.
Under Nawaki's guidance, Shin and the others arrived at a snack street not far from the academy and walked into a noodle shop.
"I see a lot of students from the Ninja Academy eating here," Kushina remarked.
"Yeah, going all the way back is too much of a hassle. By the time you go and come back, the lunch break is already over. Most people don't go home; they either bring a bento or eat here," Nawaki explained to Shin and Kushina.
"That makes sense. There's only an hour or so for the lunch break. If you go home to eat and then come back, you might end up being late."
Shin nodded. If one lived close to the Ninja Academy, it was fine, but if the house was far away, being late was a real possibility.
"Huh? Uchiha Mikoto, you're here too?"
Shin scanned the noodle shop and spotted Uchiha Mikoto sitting in a corner, quietly eating her ramen.
"Your eyes are really sharp, spotting someone even in the corner," Kushina said, looking at Shin with a hint of sourness in her tone.
"Shin-kun?"
Uchiha Mikoto looked at Shin in surprise.
"Do you mind if we sit here?" Shin walked over with a smile. Kushina, however, looked somewhat reluctant, her eyes carrying a faint trace of hostility as she looked at Uchiha Mikoto.
Nawaki, trailing at the back, hesitated for a moment before walking over as well.
To be honest, Nawaki really didn't want to sit with someone from the Uchiha Clan. After all, the hatred between the Senju Clan and the Uchiha Clan couldn't be explained in just a few words.
"I didn't expect to see Shin-kun, Uzumaki Kushina-san, and Senju Nawaki-kun here," Uchiha Mikoto said with a gentle smile.
"If I had known, I would have rather gone home," Kushina muttered under her breath, though only she and Shin could hear it.
Afterward, Shin ordered a bowl of Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen. Kushina ordered the same, while Nawaki opted for a Miso Ramen.
Perhaps because of Uchiha Mikoto's presence, Nawaki, who was usually quite talkative, became uncharacteristically silent.
Kushina rested her chin on her hand while waiting for her ramen, and Uchiha Mikoto continued to eat her noodles quietly, leaving the atmosphere somewhat stifled.
However, the noodle shop itself remained quite lively.
After a while, their ramen arrived. Just as Shin lowered his head to eat, the noodle shop suddenly went quiet.
Shin looked up, a trace of confusion in his eyes, but upon seeing the ninja who had just entered the shop, he understood why.
On the ninja's clothing was a clan crest identical to the one Uchiha Mikoto wore—it looked like a ping-pong paddle, but it actually represented the Gunbai.
Is the Uchiha Clan really that intimidating? Shin couldn't help but think to himself.
"He is a Jonin from our Uchiha Clan. He has a very bad temper," Uchiha Mikoto suddenly spoke up, addressing Shin and the others.
"A Jonin from the Uchiha Clan? Is he a Jonin?"
Shin suddenly thought of his Copy System. Focusing his mind, he asked the system, "System, can a Common Copy Card copy his Sharingan ocular power?"
Shin didn't want to copy the Sharingan Kekkei Genkai itself, but rather the pure ocular power of the Sharingan. He wasn't sure if a Common Copy Card could handle it, or if it was even possible to copy the ocular power separately.
"His strength is at the Jonin level; it can be copied," the system replied.
Having received his answer, Shin turned his focus back and glanced at the Uchiha Jonin, silently chanting in his heart: "Consume one Common Copy Card to copy his Sharingan ocular power."
In an instant, Shin felt a tingling, itchy sensation in his eyes as a surge of powerful ocular energy manifested within them.
Sensing this strange change, Shin hurriedly set down his chopsticks and covered his eyes, where three pitch-black tomoe flashed and vanished in a blink.
"Shin, what's wrong?"
Seeing Shin covering his eyes, Kushina asked him with concern.
"It's nothing, I just accidentally splashed some soup into my eyes," Shin said with a light chuckle after moving his hands away.
"Oh, well be more careful."
Shin continued eating his ramen, but his mind was elsewhere; to think that even ocular energy could be copied.
Shin had copied the ocular energy of that Uchiha clansman, causing his original One-Tomoe Sharingan to evolve instantly into a Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
Possessing a Three-Tomoe Sharingan at the age of five—if the Uchiha clan were to find out, who knows what they might do.
"As expected, the system cheat is truly formidable. What's the point of hard training when a single copy grants you everything?"
Shin couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
However, admiration aside, one still had to put in the effort.
With such a massive cheat enabled, it would feel like a disservice to the system if he didn't work hard.
"If I keep accumulating ocular energy, can I make my Sharingan evolve indefinitely?"
Shin speculated to himself.
He felt that as long as his ocular energy was sufficient, he could evolve his Mangekyou into an Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan without needing to transplant the eyes of a biological sibling.
The ocular energy of the Sharingan is, plainly speaking, the power of Yin Release; Yin Release is the manifestation of spiritual energy. For instance, all genjutsu utilize the power of Yin Release, which is to say, spiritual energy.
In other words, if one's spiritual energy were powerful enough, it might even be possible to evolve it all the way to the Rinnegan.
No, that's not right. The Rinnegan wouldn't be that simple; it seems it requires the combination of Yin Release and Yang Release to be born.
Regardless, Shin felt he had discovered another method to awaken the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan.
"Hey, hey, Shin, why are you spacing out while eating? You've got noodles in your nose."
Kushina nudged Shin, snapping him back to reality.
Kushina, Uchiha Mikoto, and Nawaki were all looking at him, and Shin felt a bit awkward.
"I was thinking about some things and got distracted."
Shin shook his head, casting those messy thoughts aside; he would think about these things later when he was home and had free time.
After finishing the meal, Shin paid the bill directly, covering Uchiha Mikoto's portion as well.
Uchiha Mikoto was initially a bit embarrassed and wanted to give the money to Shin, but he blocked her attempt by citing their friendship.
