Background

Mikoto entered the Ninja Academy as an isolated Uchiha child. Other students avoided her because of the Uchiha Clan's reputation, leaving her accustomed to sitting alone at the back of the classroom. Uzumaki Xing Yu's greeting and acceptance of her lecture notes gave her the friendship she had wanted. 20 21

Her friendship with Xing Yu and Kushina deepened quickly. Although Kushina was initially jealous of Mikoto's attention toward Xing Yu, she came to consider Mikoto a friend and defended her after Uchiha Ryota confronted her for associating with Senju and Uzumaki children. 21 23 24
