"You bunch of losers, you can't even beat one person between the lot of you. You've truly disgraced me!"
The one stepping in to back them up was a genin who had graduated less than half a year ago, yet his attitude was incredibly arrogant. To put it simply, while genin were at the bottom of the ninja hierarchy, they were like gods within the Ninja Academy. At the very least, in the eyes of these ignorant little brats, a ninja was invincible. Since this little fatty had dared to come back and pick a fight after screaming about a monster, it was only natural that in the eyes of these children, a ninja was someone specifically meant to fight monsters.
"So you're Mirai Uchiha?" This genin walked up to Li and asked with his chin held high.
He was around nine years old; clearly, the shortage of ninjas caused by the war had led to some graduating early. Fortunately, he hadn't been sent to the front lines but was instead stationed within Konoha.
"Yo! Last time, you lot couldn't even beat Li and ended up crying in fear. What, not ashamed enough to stop, so you went and found a helper?" Kushina was someone who feared nothing. Even though this genin wore the forehead protector that only ninjas possessed, she wasn't afraid in the slightest.
"Hmm? A mere outsider. People from Konoha are talking, so what right does an outsider like you have to interrupt? Do you have no manners?" The genin wasn't very old, but his tongue was unexpectedly venomous. He kept bringing up manners, which, in a roundabout way, was an insult to her parents.
Upon hearing this, Li's expression turned icy. Originally, he had wanted to let it slide, considering they were just children, but hearing that remark made him lose his temper. Kushina was his bottom line; whoever dared to touch her would die.
"Try saying that again!" Li reached out to block Kushina, who was preparing to strike, and stepped forward to stare coldly at the genin.
"Idiot, I'd dare say it ten times. Stop putting on an act, you brat. Do you believe me when I say I can beat you into the ground with one hand tied behind my back?" The genin curled his lip, tilted his chin upward, and looked down at Li, who was half a head shorter than him, with disdain.
Ding! First Battle Mission issued: Defeat this genin. Reward: 1,000 points. Mission failure: Deduct 1,000 points. (Note: If the host's point balance is insufficient, items of equal value will be deducted. If the host has nothing to offset the cost, the host's life force will be extracted as compensation!)
Hearing this mission, Li's face changed instantly, and he cursed inwardly. This system was truly a scam; failing would cost a thousand points, and if he didn't have enough, it would take his belongings or his life force. What did Li have right now? A pair of One-Tomoe Sharingan, a Great Fireball Technique, and a genin's worth of chakra. If that wasn't enough to cover a thousand points, it would drain his life force—wasn't that just a death trap?
Li exhaled slightly, putting the system aside for a moment, and looked at the arrogant genin. "Fine, let's have a fight and see who's better. But I'm warning you now: once we start, I won't stop until someone is injured. You'd better be prepared. The Uchiha Clan is not something you lowly civilian ninjas can insult!"
Throughout Konoha, anyone who heard the name Uchiha felt a sliver of fear. Even if they didn't respect them from the heart, no one dared to speak disparagingly to their faces. Yet, this genin had acted like he was the king of the world from the start. It would be one thing if he didn't know Li's surname, but he knew Li was an Uchiha and still dared to pick a fight, repeatedly showing no regard for him. Li wasn't someone who valued clan honor above all else, but he detested those who didn't know their place. This genin had crossed Li's taboo.
"You have no ability, yet you dare to be arrogant. People like you deserve to be killed!"
The genin felt a chill in his heart upon hearing Li's icy words, but he quickly recovered. His companions had told him that the Uchiha Clan was nothing special and there was no need to be afraid, as the Hokage would back them up if anything happened.
"Bullshit Uchiha! Do you think this Konoha is yours? Pfft!" The genin spat twice and said with disdain.
Although he was a genin, he was only nine years old and had seen nothing of the world. He didn't understand the power structure of Konoha, making him easily misled. The Uchiha Clan acted without restraint in Konoha and served as the Police Force, naturally offending many civilian ninjas. Those civilian ninjas didn't dare say much openly, but behind their backs, they spread rumors and belittled the Uchiha. This genin had clearly heard too much of that disparagement, which was why he held the Uchiha in such low regard.
At this, not only was Li furious, but even Kushina glared at the guy with bloodshot eyes. Coming from a prominent clan herself, Kushina knew that for a clan member, the first duty was to protect the honor of one's family. To be insulted and belittled like this—even if it meant the entire clan being wiped out, one would have to kill the person who said such things.
Li took a deep breath to calm his heart, then looked at the genin. This time, Li's eyes were clear, devoid of any anger, looking at the genin like a pool of cold water. "No amount of nonsense will help you now. Today, I'll show you exactly how much weight the name Uchiha carries!"
All unfairness in the world was caused by a lack of personal ability. Therefore, to avoid experiencing such unfairness, one must either become stronger and more capable than anyone else, or shrink into a corner and never show one's face. This genin had no ability, yet he was foolish enough to step out and insult others; he deserved to suffer the consequences.
"Fine, since you're so eager to suffer, I'll grant your wish!" The genin sneered, then turned his head to the three little brats behind him and shouted angrily, "You three losers, watch closely as I take down this so-called top student!"
"Big brother, go! Beat Mirai Uchiha, beat that Tomato!" The three little brats didn't talk back despite being scolded, instead cheering loudly.
"Kushina, stand back a bit!" Li turned his head to look at Kushina beside him and said calmly.
"Are you sure? He's a ninja. Can you beat him? I think we should just go together!" Kushina said with a frown.
Li shook his head and said dismissively, "Don't worry, he's just trash. I'm the top student of the academy; I don't need to team up with you to deal with a loser like this. Just sit on the sidelines and watch me beat him into the ground!"
Upon hearing this, Kushina gave a thumbs-up, blinked, and shouted, "Good! That's the dignity a top student should have. I'm rooting for you—beat that bastard into the ground for me!"
