"Bang!" With an explosion, the crystal base on the screen detonated, drawing a cheer from the Blackwatch members gathered around the monitor.
A tech-sergeant snatched a bottle of Chemos Whiskey from the hands of a dejected sergeant. "Ah! Tom, the tides of life change every thirty years; I will definitely defeat you one day."
"Jerry, you'd better practice for another thirty years, though I hope you still have such good liquor by then." The victorious Tom smugly popped the cork, poured the liquid down his throat right in front of Jerry, and finished by licking the bottle rim, looking incredibly arrogant.
Over these past two years, aside from the development of the Legion and the growth of Olympia, Hogg, well aware of the need for work-life balance, had developed several small games on the local area network to enrich the citizens' spare time. The superhuman physique of his men meant some games weren't suitable for the Legion, so strategy games became quite popular.
For instance, he ported over StarCraft from his past life, though he made a few localized modifications.
Additionally, he released a batch of finely crafted figurines to the market. While these primarily featured the Primarchs, any Astartes who achieved notable feats or earned honors for the Legion would also receive their own chibi-style figurine to commemorate their service.
Although the Astartes of the Blackwatch were Hogg's sons, formal recognition and honors were an important part of maintaining emotional bonds; in this regard, one could only say Hogg was a version ahead of Emperor.
"My Lord, the Astartes of the Fourth Legion wish to dock at Olympia for repairs and to meet the Primarch." As the Primarch's chamberlain, Emilia faithfully performed her duties, though her eyes drifted toward the Primarch's face.
"Permission to dock granted. Also, I have time to receive them in twenty minutes."
He set down the parts in his hand and examined the creation before him: a miniature power armor based on the Auxilia's power armor, designated as the T1 Individual Armor.
In truth, it was essentially a mechanical exoskeleton reinforced with ceramite plates. Compared to the power armor of the Astartes, it lacked the same level of performance.
However, the advantage was that it only required a simple neural interface to operate and was quite agile. The small ion reactor mounted on it ensured endurance, and even if it ran out of power, it could emergency-draw energy from an Auxilia laser rifle battery.
The overall modular design made parts easy to replace, allowed for the use of more powerful weapons, and its greatest strengths were its ease of manufacture, low cost, and durability, requiring only simple training to operate.
Of course, it was understandable that such a good piece of equipment contained a bit of xenos technology.
Hogg intended to distribute the T1 Individual Armor as standard equipment for the Auxilia. Furthermore, once production capacity was reached, he planned to sell subsequent models of the series as a source of foreign exchange for Olympia.
Sitting on the sofa in the hall, Hogg sipped the cola Emilia handed him while waiting for the Fourth Legion's audience. The cola, of course, was manufactured according to Hogg's own taste buds, though the raw material was moss produced on a nearby planet—another of Olympia's export products.
As a warrior of the Fourth Legion, Dantioch had a good relationship with the Eleventh Legion's Dark Raiders, now known as the Blackwatch.
Perhaps it was because the two Legions always met on the most brutal battlefields, or perhaps because they had finally found a battle-brother even shorter than themselves, but the two Legions were on excellent terms.
After reclaiming a planet that refused to join Imperium but possessed technology left over from the Golden Age, the camp where Dantioch was stationed (the Fourth Legion's organization was quite unique) suffered heavy casualties and was in dire need of repairs. Thus, they came to Olympia, where their good brothers in the Blackwatch were stationed, and came to meet the Primarch out of respect for his gene-seed.
Thinking of this, the exhausted Dantioch sighed, "I wonder when we will ever find our own Primarch."
Following the Primarch's chamberlain, Dantioch and his battle-brothers walked into the banquet hall where the Primarch resided. The first thing that met their eyes was the Eleventh Primarch lounging in the main sofa, and he was currently hiccuping.
The group kept their eyes straight ahead, offering salutes as a sign of respect for the son of Emperor. Following the advice of his good brothers from the Eleventh Legion, Dantioch brought out the gift he had prepared.
According to the Blackwatch, although the Primarch was kind-hearted, he would be even happier if he received a gift, which meant they could get more help during their repairs.
"Ugh! No need to be so formal. You came all this way, why bring a gift? Really! Don't do it next time; the thought is what counts."
"Sit." Following the Primarch's invitation, the group sat down.
"Fourth Legion, Dantioch, right? I understand your situation.
Don't worry. As a Primarch, a son of Emperor, and your uncle, even if your father hasn't returned yet, coming here is just like coming home. If you need anything, just ask; no need to be formal!"
At the Primarch's words, the warriors of the Fourth Legion felt an inexplicable sense of relief and envy. Look at that—having a father really makes a difference. The Blackwatch, who used to dig trenches and eat rations with them, had finally made it.
The dishes at the banquet were served one by one. Compared to the Blackwatch, who were devouring their food like madmen, the Fourth Legion was quite decorous, though their eating speed was by no means slow.
The Blackwatch and the Fourth Legion chatted heatedly at the banquet. Dantioch recounted his experiences during the war to the Primarch, and Hogg reciprocated with interesting stories from ancient Terra.
As the banquet progressed, Hogg made a suggestion:
"I hear from my sons that everyone in the Fourth Legion is a master architect. Olympia is currently undergoing massive construction; perhaps you could provide some guidance.
Can you do that, Dantioch? In return, I can help you search for your lost Primarch."
"It is my honor, Lord Primarch. We are waiting for the return of our Primarch every single moment."
The banquet dispersed, and Leon, Captain of the Ninth Company of the Blackwatch reconnaissance force, came before Hogg.
"Father, on a planet near the Eye of Terror, we found traces of someone suspected to be a Primarch. It is very close to Olympia.
According to the communications sent by the reconnaissance force, this planet is still in a feudal society, but the local level of technology suddenly developed rapidly after a period of time.
Furthermore, the local feudal lord adopted a child whose growth rate far exceeded that of ordinary people. According to the scouts' reports, it is suspected to be a Primarch. Additionally, the planet is called Olympia by the locals."
"Understood. You did well! Here, this is a figurine I made myself, with your name engraved on it. The Legion will remember you." Hogg patted Leon on the shoulder and said with a smile.
"I will keep the Legion's cultivation in mind." A standard salute appeared before the Primarch.
"Snap!" A flash of eerie green electricity erupted, and the Ninth Captain's newly styled cool haircut was fried into an afro.
"Stop reading so many novels, damn it. Seriously, ever since I returned, I feel more and more that you guys aren't normal. I shouldn't have told you stories."
The aftermath was that because he felt bored, Hogg had been trying to bring things from his past life into existence over the last two years. The good news was that the Legion's loyalty was evident to all; the bad news was that they were becoming increasingly ridiculous.
Lyla Lynn, once known as [The Reef] and now the Captain of the Primarch's Guard, was obsessed with card games, yet his skills were so terrible he had almost gambled away his entire fortune.
First Captain Rossmanderson, who sported a cool mohawk, was obsessed with bragging. Moreover, he was Dantioch's good brother, always showing off to other Legions that he had a father.
The once-scholarly Tech-Priest Candice Laza—ever since Hogg performed a C'tan-level feat for her (forging a nuclear bomb out of a pile of scrap metal)—had been seen by Hogg last time giggling in binary while holding her own figurine.
Oh, and there was the Ninth Captain, Leon Kennedy, right in front of him. After learning that he had crashed three Stormbirds in a row, Hogg threw him directly into the reconnaissance company; no vehicle dared to let him touch it. Recently, this guy had become obsessed with spy novels.
"Get out! Go back to your reconnaissance company and stay there. If you pull any more stunts, I'll shave your head and leave you bald!"
As if seeing the tragedy of being mocked by the entire Legion, the Ninth Captain vanished in an instant, moving at a speed that approached that of a Primarch.
"Sigh, Emilia, do you think I've been too indulgent with them? How did things end up like this after only two years?"
The steward, currently using a plasma torch to trim the Primarch's nails, replied: "Not at all, my Primarch. The warriors of other legions are quite envious of the care you show your progeny."
"Emilia, stop for a moment. I have a question for you: my clothes have been going missing lately. Did you take them?"
Emilia replied, her face flushed with shyness: "Ah? What are you saying, Primarch?"
"..." Great, there isn't a single normal person left.
Dinner was good; in a good mood, I'll start writing.
