Geography and Environment
Olympia is a temperate world with mountains, oceans, lush vegetation, white-marble cities, and terrain notably similar to Terra. Its warm climate and fertile land make it rich in produce; diligent inhabitants can live comfortably from its agriculture. 10
- Its civilization was initially feudal, though technology advanced rapidly after Perturabo was adopted by a local lord. 7
- Olympia lies within the Fourth Legion's regional sphere of influence, near Alicia and toward the Eye of Terror. 24
- Purple berries grown on Olympia are exported throughout the Imperium. 247
- The world is stereotyped elsewhere in the Imperium as a place of endless construction sites and cement mixing. 200
History
Before Imperial Compliance
Olympia was divided among competing states until King Dammekos of Lochos neared planetary unification. His adopted son Perturabo, already nearly three meters tall, repeatedly clashed with him over the future of the world. Calliphone, Perturabo's sister, attempted to mediate between them. 10
Perturabo's extraordinary technical ability was constrained by Olympia's low technological baseline. He worked on machines in a palace workshop, where Hogg—disguised as the woman “Martha Menethil”—won his trust through engineering discussions. 10
Integration into the Imperium
Hogg used the Martha persona to present himself as Perturabo's mother, then introduced Olympia's court to the Imperium through the arrival of the Blacklight, Stormbird gunships, transports, and Blackwatch warriors. The display of Imperial military power profoundly impressed the still-feudal population. 11
Olympia entered the Imperium without open conflict. Dammekos relinquished the throne to Calliphone, who was considered the leader best suited to guide the Olympians' development, while Perturabo gained access to his Legion and a wider role beyond his homeworld. 11
Later Reputation
The Iron Warriors retained strong ties to Olympia and its construction culture. Fourth Legion personnel worked alongside Blackwatch forces on construction projects, and Olympian-origin Space Marines later appeared within Blackwatch ranks. 62 200
Perturabo continued to rule as Olympia's master and viewed the world through the lens of his lost childhood memories and enduring anxiety over the Eye of Terror. His resulting distrust of perception and preference for machinery became a defining trait of both himself and the Fourth Legion. 244

- Imperial development — Following compliance, Calliphone was expected to lead Olympia's modernization while Perturabo brought broader progress through Imperial resources. 11
- Engineering culture — Olympia's association with heavy industry and civil engineering became widespread enough to produce Imperium-wide stereotypes about its people. 200
