When Sanguinius saw Fulgrim being carried aboard, he nearly leaped out of his chair.

The Archangel was not reading at the time, but was holding a piece of wood and carving it. The Glyph Array projected the Emperor's Children and Fulgrim, whom they were carrying, before him, and Sanguinius's expression at that moment could only be described as spectacular.

Who could have injured Fulgrim like this?

The Emperor's Children's answer left him utterly dumbfounded.

Fifteen minutes after the Phoenix was placed into the only remaining second Medical Pod aboard the ship, he finally came slowly awake. The powerful physique of a Primarch and the Medical Pod's miraculous healing capabilities overlapped with each other, and at last he woke from his coma. But he still could not speak.

His vocal cords had been damaged, and thoroughly so. Fulgrim could only speak with Sanguinius through the Glyph Array's built-in thought projection function.

The first thing he said after waking was a question.

"Where are my sons?" Fulgrim asked, pale-faced as he lay in the pale-blue fluid.

"They're fine. No casualties. They're just very worried about you," Sanguinius said. "Do you need me to call them in?"

"No."

Fulgrim let out a long breath. "There's no need to let them see me like this. Where's Angron?"

"Same as you, lying in a Medical Pod and unable to move." Sanguinius laughed. "He's been making a fuss about wanting to get out the whole time. I don't know why, but he's particularly resistant to lying in a Medical Pod."

The Phoenix rolled his eyes, the flesh on his left hand recovering at a slow pace. "Foolish."

"So, talk to me, Fulgrim."

Sanguinius placed his hand on the Medical Pod's transparent glass, gazed into Fulgrim's eyes, and said softly, "If you don't mind."

"Talk about what?"
