Background / History

Piccolo is the reincarnation of King Piccolo, who produced an egg immediately before his defeat by Sun Wumian. The being born from that egg becomes known as Demon Junior, inheriting King Piccolo's ambition and hostility toward Sun Wukong. 16 25

At the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Piccolo enters seeking strength and dominance. He defeats Krillin and Yamcha, reveals himself as the reincarnated King Piccolo, and reaches the finals against Sun Wukong. Although he initially catches Wukong off guard, he is ultimately overwhelmed and knocked out of bounds. 24 25

His outlook begins changing after Krillin endures their match rather than giving in easily. By the time Gohan trains under him, Piccolo insists that his conflict with Goku is unfinished but is no longer regarded as a villain by Goku. 24 36

During Cell's emergence, Piccolo reunites with Kami. The assimilation creates a far stronger Namekian and ends Kami's separate existence as Earth's guardian. Piccolo then confronts Cell alone, deliberately lets Cell drain one of his arms to extract information, regenerates the limb, and exposes Cell's origins and objective of absorbing Androids 17 and 18. 46 48 49

Personality

Piccolo is initially contemptuous, proud, and openly committed to conquering the world. He dismisses opponents as “trash” and resents being surpassed by former enemies. 24 28
