Background & History
Pangu was a Chaos Demon God conceived from the Chaos Green Lotus. Before opening the world, he fought the three thousand Chaos Demon Gods; many of their companion treasures, as well as his own Heaven-Opening Divine Axe, Chaos Green Lotus, and Jade Plate of Creation, were shattered or transformed into Innate Spiritual Treasures during the creation of the Primordial World 103.
His Great Dao was the Great Dao of Strength, an all-encompassing Dao capable of evolving other Great Daos. The Primordial World was formed from his Dao Fruit and physical body: his eyes became the sun and moon, his head became the Ninth Heaven, his spine became Buzhou Mountain, and his limbs became the four poles 102 182.
Pangu was said to undergo nine transformations in a day. Eight Near-Dao Bodies—Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermillion Bird, Black Tortoise, Qilin, Golden Crow, Kunpeng, and Primordial Lion—preceded the final transformation into the Innate Dao Body. These Dao Bodies allow beings descended from them to approach the Great Dao more efficiently 26 157.
His fate was to perish after creating heaven and earth. When the Destiny Demon God attempted to stop him after foreseeing this outcome, Pangu killed the Demon God with the Heaven-Opening Divine Axe, severed the shackles binding its destiny, and sent its True Spirit into the future through Dutian Divine Thunder. This act ultimately led to the later existence of Lei Ze and Xuan Qing 213 228 229.
Personality
Pangu is defined by absolute resolve against predetermined fate. Rather than accept the destiny of dying after opening the heavens, he chooses to create a future by force, even when opposed by the Destiny Demon God and constrained by the Great Dao 228.
His later actions indicate a singular pursuit of transcendence. The Three Paths of Heaven, Earth, and Man, the Primordial World, and the beings evolved from his origin all become components of his path toward surpassing the limits imposed by the Great Dao 338 370.
Appearance
Pangu’s true form is described as boundless and immeasurable. Rather than possessing ordinary flesh and blood, his body is composed of rules, while the Three Thousand Great Daos submit to the Great Dao of Strength 337.
