Background / History

Origin and entry into the Intercepting Sect

Xuan Qing is a transmigrated human created as part of the Innate Human Race. Nuwa eventually answered his repeated prayers and gave him the Creation Yuan Gong, but its mysteries were too profound for him to grasp without guidance, nearly causing qi deviation 1.

Laozi refused to accept him into the Taiqing lineage, judging his temperament incompatible with its path of inaction. Nevertheless, Laozi brought him to Kunlun Mountain, where Sect Master Tongtian accepted him as a direct disciple of the Intercepting Sect 1. He later received the Daoist name Xuan Qing from Tongtian 18.

Although an Innate Human, Xuan Qing began with a weaker origin than Duobao and Golden Spirit Holy Mother. He compensated through cultivation, networking, and pursuit of rare opportunities 2.

Establishing the Refining Dao

Xuan Qing sought the Wind Thunder Immortal Apricot at Zhongnan Mountain, consumed its fruits, and returned with the root itself to stabilize the Intercepting Sect's fortune. Tongtian accepted the offering and rewarded him with the Purple Lightning Hammer 4 5.

While condensing his Grand Unity Dao Fruit, Xuan Qing derived the Dao pattern of Refine from eight Dao Seeds and chose it as the center of his future cultivation 6. Tongtian later taught him the Method of Refining the False into the True, while Laozi and Primordial Lord of Heaven supplied Dao Charms from their Spiritual Treasures for him to integrate 13.

Ghost Immortal ancestor

Xuan Qing developed an Other Self incarnation that studied life, death, yin, and yang through Nether Grass and the Netherworld Realm 48 63. He established a Ghost Immortal cultivation system for wandering spirits, created a world at Mount Tai with the Netherworld Atlas, and received immense Heavenly Merit for founding a path that could lead spirits to Grand Unity 64.

Empress Xi He formally acknowledged him as the Ancestor of Ghost Immortals 64.

Later revelations

Xuan Qing's future cannot be clearly read because of his Destiny of Nothingness 24. Later accounts associate his prior existence with both the Destiny Demon God and the ancient Dragon God Lei Ze, whose legacy became the Innate Thunder Pool 233 273.

He ultimately severed his dependence on the Immortal, Divine, and Demonic Paths. His body and Dao Fruit were remade through the Refining Dao, leaving him neither Immortal, God, nor Demon in the conventional sense 273.

Personality

Xuan Qing is socially perceptive and politically cautious. He mediated a dispute between Tongtian and Primordial Lord of Heaven by allowing both Saints to preserve face, then proposed disciple assessments and sect rules through the Jade Void Glazed Lamp 7.

He is generous when building alliances, distributing resources among fellow disciples and offering the Wind Thunder Immortal Apricot to his sect, but he treats exchanges as reciprocal arrangements rather than charity 5 196. His negotiations with Lord Zhi Ming, Haotian, and the Phoenix Clan show a willingness to leverage status, karma, and future knowledge for advantage 165 196 222.

Xuan Qing is ambitious in cultivation and repeatedly chooses difficult paths: integrating many Great Daos, founding the Ghost Immortal system, seeking Heavenly Court authority, and attempting to evolve the Heavenly Dao through the Human Dao 13 117 269. He remains pragmatic in danger, such as fleeing immediately after killing the Golden-Winged Great Peng to avoid the Phoenix Clan's retaliation 17.
