Background / History
Sora and his younger sister Shiro are summoned to Disboard after defeating Tet in a game. They fall from the sky, meet Lu Qiming, and learn that the Ten Covenants prohibit killing and plunder, requiring disputes to be settled through games. Sora quickly becomes interested in a world where games determine everything. 429 430
After reaching Elchea, Sora learns that the Human Race is near extinction and that its next ruler will be chosen through gambling. Lu Qiming encourages Sora and Shiro to claim the throne, believing their gaming ability makes them uniquely suited to lead humanity. 433 434
Sora and Shiro are crowned co-kings of Elchea. Although Sora is initially overwhelmed by speaking before a crowd, Shiro's support allows him to rally the Human Race by reframing its weakness as a source of strength. The pair declare war on every other nation to gain time and force the world to acknowledge humanity. 440 441
Before leaving Elchea to pursue other races, Lu Qiming gives Sora and Shiro God's Gift. The resulting Gourmet Cells grant them extraordinary physical potential, but the siblings initially fear their own strength and must train to adapt to it. 442 444
Sora leads Elchea's challenge against the Eastern Union. He identifies the Warbeasts' use of an unprovable sixth-sense advantage, uses the audience and Ino Hatsuse's attention as parts of his plan, and enables Stephanie to land the winning shot on Izuna Hatsuse. The Covenant recognizes the Human Race's victory. 454 458
When the surviving Ex-Machina mistake him for Riku, Sora refuses to exploit their attachment despite their insistence. He resolves the situation through a Covenant-bound courtship game with Shiro, proving that he is Sora rather than Riku and securing the release of the Ex-Machina's hardware locks. 465 469
Sora later faces the revived Artosh in Elchea. Though intimidated by the God of War, he refuses Artosh's offer and maintains that the Human Race's strength lies in the wisdom of the weak. 490 491
After Sora and Shiro defeat Tet in chess, Lu Qiming obtains the Star Grail and gives it to them. The siblings merge with it, become the One True God, and choose to explore other worlds. 516 520
Personality
Sora is intensely competitive and regards games as the proper way to confront seemingly impossible circumstances. He studies opponents, rules, incentives, and spectators alike, preferring victories created through preparation and manipulation of the entire situation rather than direct confrontation. 454 458
He has severe social anxiety and is frightened by the prospect of returning to ordinary social reality, but he recovers quickly when he understands that he is inside a game. Public attention still unsettles him, as shown during his coronation speech. 455 440
Despite his opportunistic and lewd tendencies, Sora is protective of Shiro and refuses to treat the Ex-Machina's desperation as an excuse to ignore their true feelings. He insists on being recognized as himself rather than as Riku. 465 466
