Background

Thor claims to be an existence beyond ordinary gods: an Outer God capable of creating stars, universes, and the rules that govern creation. He describes himself as the “observable universe's constant,” a carrier and embodiment of creation’s rules. Loki considers him neither god nor mortal, but an incomprehensible phenomenon that her Familia must not provoke. 1 13 33

His current power is heavily diminished. Stardust—described as both the foundation of creation and a fragment of his original power—is required to restore him. Magic Stones can be refined into Stardust, and the amount he possesses determines both his available energy and the maximum output of his skills and magic. 2 4 19

After arriving in Orario, Thor recruited Bell Cranel as his first follower and established the Thor Familia. Despite his immense claims and presence, he initially lacked even enough Valis to pay for a meal, forcing him and Bell to wash dishes at the Hostess of Fertility. 1 2

Thor later accepted Syr—revealed to be Freya—as his second Familia member by carving a Star Blessing onto her back. He subsequently bestowed Blessings upon Hestia and Hephaestus as well, an unprecedented act that risks drawing the attention of other gods and triggering a War Game. 22 41 42 43

As an instructor, he is patient but demanding. He encourages Bell to recognize his accomplishments while preventing him from becoming arrogant, teaches Ais and Lefiya under deliberately restrictive conditions, and turns dangerous encounters into lessons. 5 17 46

He is also pragmatic when resources are concerned. His need for Stardust and Magic Stones motivates his Dungeon activity, training arrangements, and decision to forge Bell a weapon.
