The matter was settled.
Fang Yang did not linger at Taixuan Sect, nor did he reunite with Ye Fan. It was not because he had risen to prominence and forgotten the bond he shared with his old classmate.
Rather, it was because of the impression Taixuan Sect currently had of him.
If he so much as came into contact with Ye Fan,
Ye Fan would inevitably face severe ostracism and trouble in the days ahead.
"A real man should be like that!"
Ye Fan gazed into the distance at the rainbow trail Fang Yang had left in the sky as he strode away, his eyes brimming with ambition and hope.
He had thought it over carefully.
Fang Yang was only a Mortal Body. How had he advanced so quickly, breaking through to the Four Extremities Secret Realm in just three short years and becoming a Candidate Holy Son of Yao Guang Sacred Land?
The conclusion was that the Bodhi Leaf from Mars had played a tremendous role, helping Fang Yang comprehend the scriptures of Yao Guang Sacred Land.
"During the cultivation of the Desolate Ancient Sacred Body, the resource gap is far too great. If only I had an ample supply of resources..."
Ye Fan understood this deeply.
Everyone walked a different path.
He had too many secrets on him now, making it utterly unsuitable for him to join any faction. Otherwise, he would inevitably meet a tragic end.
"The only plan now is to leave Taixuan Sect and head to the Northern Domain, where source mines abound. That's the only way I have even a sliver of hope of catching up to Fang Yang."
Ye Fan knew Fang Yang had only five or six Bodhi Leaves at most, so he could not keep up this pace of cultivation forever.
Ye Fan had a Bodhi Seed in his possession. If he could make some gains mining in the Northern Domain, perhaps one day he could catch up to Fang Yang.
In the sky, Fang Yang flew on a rainbow while starting a ten-pull.
[Kun Fist (White)] [Wing Chun Fist (White)] [Baji Fist (White)] [Small Umbrella (White)] [Golden Coffin (White)] [Sucking Palm (Green)] [Fire-Blowing Palm (Green)] [Black Jade Intermittent Paste (Green)] [Zhuo Fist (Green)] [Source Technique Treasure Record (Purple)]
Five white, four green, and one purple.
Not bad.
Skipping over the white cards that were of little use, Fang Yang examined the five extraordinary cards:
"Sucking Palm and Fire-Blowing Palm. These two Profound-tier battle techniques were conceived rather cleverly..."
"Black Jade Intermittent Paste. It's a miracle medicine in a low-martial world, but for me, even a single mouthful of Divine Spring would work better."
"Zhuo Fist. A fist technique Gu Chensha created when he first began cultivating. A pity it isn't the Common People Mending Heaven Technique he deduced later... or even the Dragonless Mental Method."
As Fang Yang's cultivation deepened, he increasingly appreciated the benefits of the gifted talent brought by that Dragon-Nurturing Pill.
If he could raise his talent further and become a peerless prodigy, a born Saint...
He suppressed those thoughts and looked at the most precious purple card he had drawn this time:
[Source Technique Treasure Record (Purple)] [Description: Records the lifelong learning of a Source Earth Master, covering vein-seeking and source-probing, disguise and transformation, the Source Technique Heavenly Eye, and more.]
"When you're sleepy, a pillow appears."
"The Northern Domain is fierce and lawless, with bandits running rampant. I was just preparing to go there and uphold justice on Heaven's behalf. This is perfect—I can put the secret arts in the Source Technique Treasure Record into practice along the way."
Fang Yang materialized the Source Technique Treasure Record.
An ancient book made of unknown material appeared in his palm.
The pages fluttered.
An hour later, Fang Yang had committed the entire contents of the Source Technique Treasure Record to memory and had learned a few of its minor tricks.
"According to the book, the Source Earth Master who wrote this inheritance had already come very close to the realm of a Source Heaven Master."
"Whether that's self-praise or an indisputable fact, I don't know, but the Source Technique inheritance recorded within is truly extraordinary."
Fang Yang set off for the city where Yao Guang Sacred Land was stationed. He used Yaoguang Footwork, and soon arrived.
He was familiar with the routine by now. He showed his identity token and stepped into the Domain Gate.
Yellow sand drifted through the air.
The red Gobi stretched as far as the eye could see.
This was one of Yao Guang Sacred Land's mining zones, where cultivators and miners lived side by side, digging for rare ores left behind from ancient times.
Fang Yang stepped out of the Domain Gate.
The dazed sensation of traveling through the void still lingered in his mind when
a tremendous roar came from the horizon:
"Charge, boys! Get your asses moving!"
A burly man with a full beard rode a Double-Winged Flying Horse, with a vast crowd of cultivators following behind him.
At his command, the cultivators shouted as they surged down from the sky, scattering across the enormous mining zone.
"I just got here, and I've already run into a Great Bandit raiding a mining zone?"
Fang Yang had long since memorized the Yaoguang Secret Chronicles. He was well-informed about matters concerning Yao Guang Sacred Land and the many factions and great figures of the Eastern Wasteland.
The bearded brute on the horizon was the Tenth Great Bandit, one of the Thirteen Great Bandits—a powerhouse in the Immortal Second Realm.
"This place is no good. Better get out of here."
Fang Yang knew these Great Bandits were only after ore and Pure Source from the mining zone. Unless they had no other choice, they would never casually kill disciples of Yao Guang Sacred Land.
But a gentleman did not stand beneath a crumbling wall.
When dealing with such vicious criminals, he couldn't count on them to keep a clear head.
Snake Talisman!
Invisibility!
Fang Yang vanished from before the Domain Gate, picked a random direction, and flew away from the mining zone on a rainbow.
Behind him, a fierce battle broke out in the mining zone, but it had nothing to do with him anymore.
Inside a village.
A group of bandits riding Dragon-Scale Horses brandished their whips and drove the villagers to the entrance, preparing to put on a grand beheading spectacle.
"All you have to do is hand over three jin of Pure Source every month. Go ask around—who else has a boss as kind-hearted as ours?"
"Those are such generous terms, and you still can't meet them? Are you deliberately picking a fight with us?!"
"If that's the case, then by the rules we set beforehand, you'll pay for breaking your agreement with three women and three heads."
After the bandit chief's lackey finished speaking, he waved his hand.
Three old people were brought forward under guard.
"Father!"
"Mother!"
"Grandma!"
Cries rang out from the crowd driven to the village entrance. But against these powerful bandits, the villagers had neither the strength nor the courage to fight back. All they could do was watch as their loved ones had their heads chopped off.
"Let them go!"
Just then, a young man stepped forward, standing up to the bandits and glaring at the beasts.
The bandits had not expected the village to have such a hotheaded fool, bold enough to come out and stop them. They grinned cruelly.
The villagers were just as bewildered.
Who was this?
They didn't know him!
"You bunch of beasts worse than pigs and dogs, worthless trash born to a mother but abandoned by your father..."
The young man cursed them out.
Why was he so brave?
The villagers looked on with expressions of fear or relief.
The bandits, meanwhile, advanced with vicious grins. They lowered the butcher's blades in their hands and instead picked up the little toys they rarely used, intending to give this ignorant brat a taste of what it meant to wish he were dead.
The young man was unafraid and kept going.
Under the villagers' horrified gazes,
as the bandits' fists and feet came down,
a flash of sword light appeared and fell.
Thirty-six bandits, thirty-six heads in all, rolled across the ground and kissed the earth, collecting a layer of dust.
