Researching the Senzu Beans

"This is West City. The air's pretty nice."

Breathing in the city's clean, unpolluted air, Lei Chen felt inexplicably refreshed. He took another deep breath, full of admiration.

This really was the Dragon Ball world. Even the air in the cities was this good. There had to be a reason so many aliens came to Earth; it probably wasn't just because Son Goku was the protagonist.

He wondered as he headed toward the shops that sold food Capsules and houses.

Don't ask where Lei Chen got his money. Of course he'd taken it from bandits.

Soon, Lei Chen arrived at an ordinary store. The shop was filled with small Capsules, each about five or six centimeters long. Don't underestimate these little Capsules; they held a great deal of space, and almost every one contained several to hundreds of tons of food.

An hour later, Lei Chen had bought every kind of food he could find, spending the more than one billion yuan he had on him.

Then Lei Chen left West City, flew up into the sky, and headed for a nearby primeval forest.

Three days later, Lei Chen settled in a primeval forest not far from West City. It wasn't really that close, though—it was still over a thousand kilometers away.

During those three days, Lei Chen hadn't trained at all. He'd wandered around, seeking enlightenment in the way of nature, and researched how to grow large quantities of Senzu Beans.

That day, Lei Chen somehow found himself at Mount Paozu. He was thinking of catching some game to eat.

"Hey, Kakarot! Long time no see."

Lei Chen said with a smile.

Son Goku wiped the sweat from his brow and grinned. He was hoeing the ground. He usually trained while working, never letting anything get in the way, while Chi-Chi took care of things at home.

"Hehe, Lei Chen, you're here! Want to fight me again?"

Son Goku spoke, looking at Lei Chen with a fighting spirit.

"No, I don't have time right now!"

Lei Chen hadn't finished researching the Senzu Beans, so naturally he didn't want to fight Son Goku. There weren't many Senzu Beans on Earth, after all, and if he got injured, it would take him a long time to recover.

Even though his energy recovered much faster now than before he became a Super Saiyan God, the time when Beerus would arrive on Earth was drawing closer.

And he'd already become a Super Saiyan God. If Beerus came to Earth, there was a good chance he'd be targeting Lei Chen.

Lei Chen wasn't as lucky as Son Goku, who could break through his limits time and time again. Son Goku's base energy was also several times greater than Lei Chen's, so if he transformed into a Super Saiyan God, he'd probably be even more powerful than Lei Chen.

Lei Chen had calculated that his base strength needed to increase at least tenfold. Only then would he have the strength to fight Beerus when he transformed into a Super Saiyan God.

"I heard from Korin that you're researching how to grow more Senzu Beans. Have you succeeded?"

Son Goku sat down on the grass beside Lei Chen and asked curiously.

"Just a little more to go!"

Lei Chen replied.

"You're really amazing!"

Son Goku said, surprised.

"Hehe, I'm a Super Saiyan God now. If Korin can figure something out, then of course I can too."

Lei Chen said with a smile.

"Super Saiyan God? How do you transform into that state?"

Son Goku asked Lei Chen curiously. In fact, he'd been studying the Super Saiyan God transformation for days, but he hadn't had any inspiration and hadn't made any progress.
