Personality

Beerus is easily bored by opponents he considers weak, but becomes openly interested when confronted with unusual power. He initially dismisses Son Goku after defeating him, then treats Lei Chen as the rival from his dream and eagerly tests his strength. 39 40 41

He is prideful and competitive, refusing to call his unfinished fight with Lei Chen a draw even after losing interest in continuing. His appetite can abruptly override his focus in battle; the scent of food ends his fight with Lei Chen. 43

Destruction Divine Power

Beerus wields purple Destruction Divine Power, the defining power of a God of Destruction. He uses it both to threaten Earth and to overwhelm Lei Chen in combat. 39 40 41

• Condenses destructive energy into a sphere capable of destroying Earth. 39
• His Destruction energy can pursue a locked target across space, making ordinary Instant Transmission ineffective as an escape. 41

Battle on Earth

Beerus arrives on Earth after Son Goku achieves Super Saiyan God. He blocks Goku’s opening attack with one hand and accepts the challenge, but eventually defeats Goku as he increases his power. 38 39

When Beerus prepares to destroy Earth, Lei Chen intercepts his Destruction energy. Beerus recognizes Lei Chen as the figure from his dream and identifies him as the opponent he had been seeking. 39

Battle with Lei Chen

Beerus quickly overwhelms Lei Chen’s Super Saiyan 4 God form with Destruction Divine Power, driving him into space and preventing him from mounting an effective counterattack. 40

Lei Chen transforms into Super Saiyan God Blue, strikes Beerus hard enough to send him into Earth, and redirects one of Beerus’s own Destruction attacks back at him through Instant Transmission. Beerus responds by escalating the fight and exploiting his superior speed. 41

Lei Chen’s Samsara God Eye temporarily lets him read and counter Beerus’s movements, but its stamina cost allows Beerus to land a decisive hit. Lei Chen restores himself with a Senzu Bean; before the battle can continue, Beerus abandons the fight after noticing food nearby. 42 43
