Goku is intensely battle-hungry and readily seeks out strong opponents. When he senses Lei Chen's growth, he immediately travels to the Lookout in anticipation of a spar; even when a fight is close, he dislikes ending it early. 4 7

He is notably trusting and simple-minded. He accepts Lei Chen's assistance and Senzu Bean without suspecting hidden motives, and he dismisses confusing discussions of parallel worlds as long as Lei Chen is not an enemy. 20 23
