"Out of bounds, Spopovich wins!" Seeing that Spopovich had finally stopped brutalizing Videl and tossed her off the stage, the referee hurriedly announced the result. Even he couldn't bear to look at Videl's condition; in his decades-long career as a referee, he had never seen a contestant abused like this.
Son Gohan reverted to his base form and rushed over, scooping up the near-death Videl and sprinting toward the Martial Arts Tournament's infirmary.
"Whoosh."
Knowing Videl was in critical condition, Son Goku pressed his index and middle fingers to his forehead and used Instant Transmission to leave the arena.
"Um, could you wait a minute?" With his heart set on Videl, Son Gohan had no interest in competing and spoke to the referee first. "I'm waiting for some medicine."
The referee glanced at Son Gohan's opponent, Kibito, and seeing no objection, he agreed to the request.
In a secluded corner of the tournament grounds.
"Trunks, why are you holding me back? If it weren't for you, I would've beaten that Spopovich to death just now!" Son Goten looked furious, veins bulging on his forehead, radiating killing intent.
Trunks swallowed hard. Son Goten was truly terrifying right now; if he said the wrong thing, he might end up in hell getting cozy with King Yemma.
"Look, Goten, Videl-jie is going to be fine. Besides, if Brother Gohan wins this match, he'll definitely fight that guy in the next round to avenge her," Trunks explained, cold sweat dripping down his face.
"Damn it, don't let me run into him," Son Goten said, his anger subsiding slightly as he punched the wall.
In the infirmary, Son Gohan stared at Videl's tragic state, his brows locked in a tight frown. His clenched fists betrayed his inner turmoil. As for Satan, well, he was still unconscious right next to Videl.
"Whoosh."
Son Goku returned, clutching a small pouch in his hand.
"Dad, did you get the Senzu Bean?" Son Gohan ran over, overjoyed.
"Yeah," Son Goku said, pulling a green bean from the pouch. "I haven't been growing them lately, but luckily there were three left."
Son Gohan took the Senzu Bean and rushed toward the infirmary, ignoring the doctor's protests as he fed it to Videl before leaving.
"Alright, the match between Kibito and Great Saiyaman will now begin!" Seeing Son Gohan return and walk onto the stage with Kibito, the referee announced loudly.
"Great Saiyaman."
"Great Saiyaman."
"That's right, it's that righteous warrior who appeared in Satan City."
The handsome blond guy and the blond girl stared blankly at the costumed Son Gohan. A pockmarked man looked through binoculars at Son Gohan's face. "That kid... he looks like Son Gohan."
"What?" The handsome blond guy snatched the binoculars. "It really is Son Gohan! The hairstyle is identical."
"But why would Son Gohan be there?" the handsome blond guy asked suspiciously.
"Maybe he's just shy. Let's cheer for him!" the blond girl suggested.
"Gohan, go for it!"
Hearing his name suddenly shouted from the stands, Son Gohan was startled. He followed the sound and saw his classmates.
Damn it, how did I get exposed? Then again, his turban had fallen off when he transformed into a Super Saiyan earlier.
"Hey," Son Gohan greeted his classmates with an awkward smile.
"Are you ready? Then, let the match begin."
What a headache. I went through all that trouble to modify my gear, and now it's all exposed. Plus, my opponent isn't someone I can just brush off easily, Son Gohan thought, feeling a massive headache coming on.
"Transform into a Super Saiyan. I want to see if a Super Saiyan can actually be of any help in the end," the previously silent Kibito suddenly said.
Son Gohan was shocked. "How do you know about Super Saiyans?"
"Never mind that. Just transform," Kibito said coldly.
"Gohan."
Hearing his name, Son Gohan looked back and saw Piccolo nodding at him.
"Well? Is it him?" Yamu asked Spopovich, who was holding a detector.
"No, the energy is too low," Spopovich shook his head.
Seeing Piccolo's approval, Son Gohan began to gather his energy.
"I don't know what you're planning, but I'll grant your wish. I'll transform into a Super Saiyan—and not just any, but a Super Saiyan who has surpassed his limits," Son Gohan said coldly.
"Surpassed his limits?" Kibito was stunned.
"Haaaa!"
Violent energy erupted with Son Gohan's roar, sweeping across the arena like a hurricane, with sparks of electricity dancing around his body.
Super Saiyan 2. It wasn't as god-tier as it used to be, but it was at least stronger than a standard Super Saiyan.
The entire crowd stared in shock at Son Gohan's transformation.
"A blond warrior! Just like those two kids, he's a blond warrior!" a spectator shouted.
"Look!" Spopovich stared in astonishment at the detector in his hand, its needle spinning wildly.
"Such immense energy... it's him!" Yamu shouted decisively.
"Well? Any other requests? Shall we fight now?" Son Gohan asked with a confident smile.
Such astonishing energy. I can't believe he's actually an Earthling, Kibito thought to himself.
"Hmph, that brat's power was even greater than this when he took down Cell," Vegeta scoffed, clearly displeased that Son Gohan possessed such talent yet failed to train diligently. "It seems a life of peace has made him slack."
The Supreme Kai, having already revealed his identity to the group, wore a grave expression. "This power has already exceeded my imagination. Can that power be stopped?"
"Stopped?"
Seeing the actions of Spopovich and Yamu, the Supreme Kai hurriedly froze Son Gohan just as he was about to resist. Spopovich restrained Son Gohan's movements, while Yamu plunged a strange device into Son Gohan's abdomen to drain his energy, fleeing the moment it was full.
"You think you can just run after acting so tough?" Son Goten shouted, tossing aside his disguise and activating his Flight Technique to pursue the pair.
"Wait for me, Goten!" Trunks also shed his Masked Fighter attire and took off in pursuit behind Son Goten.
